MOVERS AND SHAKERS: Pooneh Mohazzabi, CEO and President of JOGO BEACH INC.

Pooneh Mohazzabi is the CEO and President of JOGO BEACH INC., a new beach lifestyle collection made in Bali that combines high quality craftsmanship with innovative and chic design. The collection, JOGO BY POONEH, consists of swimsuits, sarongs, summer dresses, sandals, beach bags, beach hats, beach pillows, bangles, candles and beauty products, all bursting with vibrant colors and the keenest attention to detail.

Although schooled in the US, Pooneh has lived in many other countries including Germany, Austria, France, The UK, Brussels, The Netherlands, Italy, The U.A.E and Singapore. Until recently, she spent most of her career working in the finance industry working for global financial institutions including UBS Investment Bank. Pooneh received her MBA degree in Germany where she lived & worked for several years. Pooneh is fluent in German, Farsi & English.

The international scope of her work, multi-cultural leanings and diverse life experiences have taken Pooneh to all the corners of the world which have contributed to her international and eclectic style, which is reflected in JOGO BY POONEH.

Despite her busy work schedule when in New York, Pooneh dedicates much time volunteering for many organizations. This past year, Pooneh acted as one of the captains of the Komen's Breast Cancer Run for several years in a row. In addition, she also works with many other non-profit organizations including the New York Junior League, Women's Bond Club, Dress for Success, 100 Women in Hedge Funds and Chamber Dance Org where she acted as a member of the board.

Today, Pooneh divides her time between Bali and New York, but continues to trek the world in search of exciting places to inspire her vision for JOGO BEACH and JOGO BY POONEH , which will be available in stores across the Jogo will be available in stores across the globe and online at www.jogobeach.com. Peachy Deegan interviewed Pooneh Mohazzabi for Whom You Know.

Peachy Deegan: What inspired you to create your beach lifestyle collection?
Pooneh Mohazzabi: I was disappointed in the current choices in the market place, which focuses on form over function and vice versa -- so I decided to make my own beach lifestyle collection combining function, beauty and comfort.

What are your 5 most favorite beaches in the world?
Rio de Jenairo - Brazil, Bali - Indonesia, Coso Mui- Thailand, Hydra –Greece, Dubai - UAE & in US Shelter Island – Hamptons.

What are the hottest trends for the summer and on what body type do they work?
I think this year we’ve seen a mix of styles by varies designers but definitely with a focus on new skimpy designs targeted for a small portion of the female population.

Where are you sold in Manhattan?
Currently we are selling at Parkers on Madison Avenue

What is your favorite place to be in NYC?
Central park walking my dog or hanging out in the garden at Norwood

What is your favorite shop?
Well there are so many amazing shops in New York it’s hard to choose one. But my latest favorite is Tracy Stern’s Salon tea Tea bar on East 75th street.

What is your favorite drink?
I am a definite wine drinker, red wine in particular but I always love a Mojito on a beautiful sunny day in New York.

What is your favorite restaurant?
IL Buco.

What is your favorite NYC book?
The Age of Innocence.

What is your favorite thing to do in NYC that you can do nowhere else?
Ride my Ducati.

What do you think is most underrated and overrated here?
Chelsea is definitely underrated & UES is definitely overrated.
