Whom You Know spoke to Charles Curtis MWHead of North American Wine Sales at Christie's. He commented:

"I was very pleased with the sale.  The best wines did very well, and the older Bordeaux and Burgundies were especially strong.  Buyers (trade as well as private) were chasing great wine again, including some tremendous '78 and '72 DRC and some '59 La Mission, among others.  I'm surprised, actually, at how well the market has come back to date."

Whom You Know is pleased to kick off our auction coverage at Christie's!  The Whom You Know party observed a small circle of distinguished magnates and businesspeople gathered in a formal setting with bidding paddles in hand ready for battle.  The participants were all very serious and focused as if they would miss out on one of the prized lots up for grabs (364 in total) if they looked away for just one moment.

The momentum of the excitement continued with each round.  With this type of auction, the process moves rapidly.   Bidders were both present in the room, and also online and teleconferencing from Singapore trying to take a piece of the action with several currencies displayed similtaneously.  A few glasses of the fine vintage wines and champagnes showcased throughout the evening paired with excellent fare complemented the action.   We left feeling that the auction was a success for all parties involved!  Bravo Christie's.
