The Veuve Clicquot Vintage Blanc 2002 is a wonderful accompaniment to most any meal and would be a great choice for the upcoming Christmas, New Year's Eve, or both!  As you know from previous Champagne reviews, at Whom You Know we believe Champagne goes with most everything.  This particular champagne has amazing bubbles that are seriously energetic: they have above-average staying power.  They have completely seduced Peachy Deegan.  The purity of the nose, the smoothness in drinking it, and the overall quality make this champagne a clear-cut winner.   The finish is fresh and we love the Veuve Clicquot Vintage Blanc 2002 and highly recommend it.

Tasting Notes: The Chardonnay in the Vintage Blanc 2002 gives this wine a refined mineral flavor accompanied with pleasant flowery notes of acacia. Aerating the wine reveals hints of yellow-fleshed fruit and pastries such as brioche and marzipan. These give way to delicately spicy aromas, followed by elegant notes of licorice and high-bred teas.

Composition: The blend includes only 17 Crus, which are either Grand or Premier Crus including Verzenay, Ludes, Ay and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

60% Pinot Noir
7% Pinot Meunier
33% Chardonnay

Occasion: Try the Vintage Blanc 2002 with bass tartare, poached turbot served on a bed of fresh pasta, or roasted chicken with candied citrus fruits.

Availability: Available at fine wine and liquor stores throughout the world.

Price: Suggested retail price is $65/bottle.

As you know, we are enthusiasts of this brand.

Veuve Clicquot supported Perfect Pairings.
Although she is not currently affiliated with the brand, Mireille Guiliano played a part in its advancement in the USA for many years. We think she is one of the nicest, most interesting, and most brilliant people and she is a Mover and Shaker- be sure to read her latest book.
