Peachy's Pantry: Whom You Know Loves the Arbosana by the California Olive Ranch!
We love love love the California Olive Ranch, and it is not an accident that they have been featured the most so far in Peachy's Pantry. Their commitment to a quality product is outstanding and Patriotic Peachy loves that the USA has a great Olive Oil brand! Today we tested the Arbosana. It has fruitiness, nutty tones, and medium pungency with tasting notes of green tomato, almond, and green banana. Peachy Deegan loves it and is dipping Italian bread it in while she writes this for inspiration!
A more robust oil than Arbequina, its peppery pungency best pairs with those recipes that include nuts, and to provide a full-flavor balance to your dishes. Some chefs also use it as a drizzling oil, over dishes as gazpacho or grilled halibut. You cannot go wrong no matter which way! And it is not only Peachy that loves the Arbosana.
Here is what our Whom You Know panel thought:
When I first received this olive oil I had planned on making an Italian dinner and was going to serve bread with this oil just for dipping. When I initially poured this rich olive oil into the dish I realized the color was distinctive of a dark green rich heady color andit tasted heavenly! This was not your average olive oil so I began to read the bottle to suppliment my overwhelming tastebuds and curiosity and suprise to why this was so different from others....It says that Arbosana is a truly distinctive and highly prized varietal. Indeed!
It's root stock was imported from Spain and planted in California Olive Ranch which is why it gives this oil a full bodied flavor while offering a subtle hint of tree-ripened almonds and an intoxicating aroma of freshnewly harvested olives.
So ....my first experience was just with bread and it was a hit with my children and dinner guest. In fact we had to slice up some more bread because the olive oil was so delicious. I served it with a penne pasta with olives and vodka sauce and a fennel parsley salad. I used the oil again for the salad dressing with a touch of lemon and sea salt . A perfect meal thank you to the star ingredient California ranch olive oil.
My next experience was the following day and I bought fresh baby scallops from the local market. I grilled the scallops with the olive oil, a pinch of herbes de provence and a touch of salt . It was so simple of a dish but so sublime and rich enough to satisfy both a male and female guest.
You don't need anything else when using this olive oil and I never thought I would be so taken with an olive oil !!! I really can't wait to have it again. To describe it is not doing it justice.
Also, this would make a great gift for any cook, chef, foodie or hostess. I would say it's like tasting a fine wine and trust me you won't want any other after trying this!!
I recently received a 500ml bottle of California Olive Ranch's Arbosana Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The dark distinctly sleek looking bottle was created to limit the amount of exposure to light, thus keeping the olive oil fresher for longer. It is all natural and unfiltered. The root stock is imported from Spain then California Olive ranch plants these Arbosana olive trees as they are truly fruity and full-bodied in flavor. The ingredients is 100% natural unrefined extra virgin olive oil and it does not contain anything genetically modified, just perfect for a healthy lifestyle. The initial scent has a heavy olive richness to it. When soaked in fresh bread the oil tasted fresh and fruity with a long finish. It gave my Chicken Dish a subtle nutty flavor. I am looking forward to using this olive oil for my holiday dinners, I am sure my guests will be impressed with the taste and freshness that is always delivered by California Olive Ranch. I really cannot emphazise how great all their products are. For everyone who thinks any olive oil will do, I am afraid you are sadly mistaken. Once you try California Olive Ranch products, you will never go back……it really does make a huge difference in the taste and freshness of any dish.
I was impressed with the elegant packaging of the California Olive Ranch EVOO bottle. My past purchases of EVOO have been at grocery stores and never thought to check the "best used by" date on the bottles. I now realize the differences in the oils after sauteing and baking with California Olive Rance Arbosana which produced such elevated freshness of flavor. This product will surely be on my list for gift giving food baskets.
My favorite recipe is just sauteing fresh vegetables with garlic and EVOO. The Arbosana EVOO added a wonderful light nutty flavor - great tasting.
Everyone loved the chocolate chip cookies I made with Arbosana EVOO. What a fantastic and healthy replacement for those unwanted saturated fats. This is definitely a heart healthy treat.
Another heart healthy dish such as salmon is a tasty meal when grilled with Arbosana EVOO. It is so incredibly moist and full of rich flavor.
I love to cook and cooking healthy with California Olive Ranch EVOO is #1 for me.
California Olive Ranch has awakened me from my ho-hum Olive oil practices. Arbosana is the third Olive oil out of 5 EVOO that I have tried from the California Olive Ranch. Arbosana, just like the previous 2 evoos, has its own taste. Before my California Ranch experience I was accustomed to everyday evoo from the supermarket, buying whatever was on sale. Abrosana adds a whole new burst of flavor to my favorite recipes. What I’m actually realizing now is that I’m using all three. Instead of using whatever on-sale variety I have in the pantry for all my recipes, I find that I’m mixing it up a bit, picking a different evoo for each recipe, even depending on the day. You can definitely taste different notes in the Arbosana, as it has a very pleasant aroma to match the earthy/fruity taste. Drizzle a little Arbosana on some vine ripened tomatoes served with garlic rubbed toast for a quick delicious holiday appetizer or just for a snack. I am a huge fan of the California Olive Ranch and I cannot imagine buying whatever is on sale at the super market again.
If you're in the market for a great all-purpose extra virgin olive oil that is more on the subtle than pungent side, then Arbosana from the California Olive Ranch is an excellent choice. The slight fruitiness with just a hint of olive complements dishes which are flavorful and for which the olive essence should take a back seat to. This is an oil that I'd mix with dried red pepper flakes and oregano leaves for dipping bread into. It's also great mixed with vinegar and drizzled over salads. Over pasta, I use copious amounts of this and it doesn't taste like like I'm overdoing it nor diluting the taste of the sauce. This is all the better for fully incorporating the health benefits that extra virgin olive oil has to offer.
