If you're in the market for a natural and "just like your own skin, but better" tinted moisturizer, then look no further than Tarte's Smooth Operator. I'm not one to wear foundation, as it tends to look caked-up and mask-like on my face, not to mention that it entails some masterful blending for it to not look stripey or uneven under certain lighting. So, for a happy medium, one that provides light to medium coverage, while still letting your natural skin show thru, give Smooth Operator a try. You can start out with a very small amount for light coverage, then it can be built upon by layering on another coating for medium coverage. It's as simple as applying moisturizer, without the fancy blending that you need to do for foundations. I love that the finish is so natural, it's hard to tell that I'm wearing any color on my complexion. My skin is dewy and glowy, it's just the right amount of moisture, and the SPF 20 provides added protection from UV rays. Tarte has recently added 5 new shades, for a total of 9 shades, so finding one that matches your skintone should be a cinch.
The Agent 06 (AKA Veil) shade works very well for my fair complexion with yellow undertones. An added bonus for the "green" folks out there, Smooth Operator earned Sephora's natural seal, which is actually Sephora's own system of identifying the products they carry which pass their internal natural beauty standards (there's no FDA standard for labeling something as natural). Having Sephora's natural seal means that a product is formalated with good things like antioxidants, botancials, minerals and vitamins, while excluding bad things such as parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals and ingredients of

When dabbed on it applies very smoothly to cover any and all facial imperfections i.e. “spider”/surface veins, to “zits” and age spots! Some of the reasons tarte” – smooth operator natural oil-free tinted moisturizer with SPF 20 is such a great product is because it is formulated without: parabens, mineral oil & petrolatum, phthalates, sodium laurel sulfate, glutens, dyes, talc and synthetic fragrance. It is also cruelty-free and vegan. The dermatologist-tested “water-in-silicone” formula with SPF 20 blends into your skin as easily as any moisturizer. It does seem to mask fine lines and wrinkles, producing an “over-all”, natural finish. Tarte smooth operator blends right into my skin. It is one of the best tinted moisturizers I have ever tried. The packaging is sleek and mess free. Normally when you use the squeeze bottle, residue is left which is not attractive. This does not happen with Tarte smooth operator. I ordered Agent 10, which from the description would be the best match for my skin tone. It applied easily to my skin, and it is oil-free so you have no worries about breaking out after use. It is packed with SPF 20 to help your skin stay younger. It felt silky and smooth on my face and acted as a great concealer to my uneven tones. Because it is oil-free, not only does it not clog your pores, it makes your skin look natural. Its staying power was great; I went from day to evening with just one touch-up. It feels so lightweight on my skin, I am looking forward to using it in the hot summer months, and it really has the power to stay put. I would call this a ‘light foundation’ as you don’t need to use that much, so I am sure I will be using this for a long time to come. The best coverage of any lotion, thank you tarte!
Tarte smooth operator is AMAZING! It floats on like a soft mousse and has great coverage without being too thick or shiny. Its really perfect and smooth. my face never felt so soft to the touch and the color fits me perfetly as if custom blended in my skin tone which has yellow undertones. I love the fact that it has no parabens, dyes or synthetic fragrance because I am a purist, yet a glamourous purist and appreciate that is has vitamins and botanicals infused to help improve the skins texture and hydrating the skin. Tarte smooth operator foundation is a trifecta of benefits built to improve clarity and texture of all skin. I actually smile after applying, because never before have I been so impressed by foundation!
