Salon Peachy Quite Literally Locates a RARE Find. Ruth Roche, Hair Engineer to the Stars has Coiffed Peachy Deegan Perfectly for the Ball at Cipriani. Whom You Know Highly Recommends Rare by Ruth Roche!!!!
Oh how we applaud smart women! Oh how we love Irish people! (Ruth's family is from Cork.) And monograms really have us at hello. We knew we would just LOVE Ruth Roche, and now we have the hair to prove it. From the minute Peachy Deegan walked into 317 Church Street today to RARE and we met Ruth Roche, we knew it would be an outstanding experience. Ruth herself was waiting to greet us. She is absolutely down-to-earth (she did her Barbie's hair too as a child) and is just amazingly talented. Here is Rare:
Rare by Ruth Roche/Pureology Salon: New York, NY
Founded by Ruth Roche in 2003, Rare by Ruth Roche/Pureology Salon is one of the hottest downtown hair salons in New York City. Located in Tribeca, Rare by Ruth Roche/Pureology Salon boasts a loyal clientele ranging from downtown street to business chic and houses an amazing team who provides exceptional work and super friendly service. We loved Pureology before today, but now we really, REALLY love them because we see how smart they were to pick Ruth as their "Ta-da!!!" stylist.
You can tell in the first thirty seconds of talking to Ruth that she is brilliant. As we peered through our glasses at Ruth asking ten million questions, as so often Peachy Deegan does, she peered back at us through her glasses and answered intelligently, thoughtfully and cheerfully, most of all. Ruth is the kind of person you want to be around. Her contagious enthusiasm and her obvious love of her profession should make you want to go to Rare alone. However, what we really like is her vision and depth of understanding that you find among the most intelligent of the population. Ruth once had ambitions of being an engineer (Ruth's dad is an engineer; Peachy's dad also is an engineer).
Although she is not in the least bit nerdy, Ruth clearly is a quick thinker and has great ideas. Even if you think you have great ideas, hers are probably better and will embellish your hair fantasies. We listened to her because we know that she is the ultimate hair professional.
Ruth Roche is fabulously talented, but she is also extremely down-to-earth. She has achieved major hair awards (four of them) over her career which spans nearly 25 years so far. The Rare site states:
Ruth has been honored multiple times by the North American Hairstyling Awards, including Master Stylist of the Year, and is featured in the documentary, “Stars Behind the Chair: The Leading Ladies of Hair.” She raised the bar at Redken as Global Artistic Director of Design and previously for renowned British hairdresser Trevor Sorbie. She has traveled the world for both companies. Now she travels the world for RARE, sharing her experience and new techniques with fellow professionals. Ruth does the hair of Mariah Carey, Lindsay Lohan, and today, Peachy Deegan. She did Joan Cusack's hair for a food show in Europe and is a teacher to many.
The name Rare comes from the initials of Ruth Anne Roche, and we believe they tacked "enterprise" at the end, which certainly is appropriate. The official colors of Rare seemed like they were purple and orange, hence the post font color. You will see that Rare is a beautifully spacious salon (spacious is literally rare in Manhattan!) with modern art by an Irishman named Keating colorfully mounted on the walls. You will like it here!
Ruth first gave Peachy a single-process color (to cover those pesky stray grays.) This was followed by some strategically placed foil highlights: Ruth mixed platinum and natural together for gloss by Redken highlights. This was followed by Redken Shade EQ which is an amazing gloss, and finally Ruth trimmed about an inch off the bottom. The blow-dried style is just perfect for Peachy dramatically swinging her head left to right....Peachy is now a brunetty-blonde, as opposed to a blonde brunette. The end result is that Peachy really has become Cinderella, all ready for the ball at Cipriani! Now all she needs is a glass of Star Vodka.
We look forward to featuring Ruth Roche as a Mover and Shaker!
