NIGHTLIGHT: Clarins and Thierry Mugler introduce Womanity: A Positive Intoxication of Fig, Caviar and Fig Wood that will Invigorate Your Senses! Line up at Bloomingdale's in August to get yours First!

Peachy Deegan absolutely loves Clarins, a quality brand across the board from skincare to beauty to fragrance.  This is the 91st post containing the word Clarins, not that we are counting.  Clarins loved us when we were tiny at the beginning over a year ago, and we have loved every single one of their products, both classic and new innovations.   They are dedicated to quality and spend years developing new products.  They do not use cliched focus groups-they take time and evaluate the market in a meaningful, measurable way and like us, worship precision and don't cut corners.   You can see why we love them!

Peachy also loves a great product launch!  We have news: introducing Womanity!  It is truly unique, however it is in the creative vein of what Mugler has done with Angel and Alien.  We like this one the best.  In over 700 product posts sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge finding something unique to say about a new product but that is far from the case with Womanity.  First of all, we have never heard of a beauty product with Caviar before.  (La Mer does use diamonds in a body scrub...) Second of all, we never imagined Caviar could smell so good.   It takes zero convincing for us to eat caviar-but to wear it, you might think twice.  Let us assure you, paired with the fig it is absolutely intoxicating.  Of course, Peachy also has an affinity for Fig because of Fig Newtons, which were named after Newton, Massachusetts, home of beloved alma mater Boston College.    It never occurred to us such olfactory pleasure could be derived from figs and cute little black eggs, but while we ate them yesterday paired with Rose Champagne by Nicolas Feuillatte, (we love and have recommended this brand too:
http://www.whomyouknow.com/2009/12/champagne-wishes-nicolas-feuillatte.html) we were indeed impressed.

800 fragrances are launched each year.  Few of them are winners. Womanity is a winner.
In 1992 Angel was introduced; we understand it is #5 in the world now and #8 in the USA.  We like Womanity better than Angel.

Not only is Womanity a quality fragrance, but its launch is environmentally friendly.  All of the background information is printed on the inside of the box, eliminating extra inside paper, and you will be able to refill your bottle at every counter selling it we have been told.  The combination of sweet and savory will surely delight you, and we recommend you head to Bloomingdale's when it launches to the public in August.  Peachy was wearing this at the Four Seasons Hamptons Event last night, then to Jazz at Lincoln Center and she received several compliments.  Whom You Know is not about Peachy however, and fragrance is meant to captivate whomever is wearing it: perfumes have different effects on different people.  So, Whom You Know brought a beauty panelist with us to the launch, and she says:

As I walked into the room for the Womanity launch, I immediately felt a wave of calm pass over me.  Decked out in all things pink and pretty (to match the tastefully displayed bottles of Womanity) and dimly lit, the room itself put me in a good mood immediately.  In addition to the lovely ambience, there were tasty hors d'oeuvres (prosciutto-wrapped figs and potato crisps with caviar) aplenty, as well as delicious cocktails (although I was tempted by the "Womanitini," which was made with fig-flavored vodka, I opted for the rose champagne - yum!).  The presentation itself was broken down into two parts: the concept of Womanity, and the perfume itself.  Womanity was created with the idea of bringing a new attitude and a new consciousness to femininity.  Along those lines,womanity.com launched on March 8th, and it is an interactive platform for women to share their experiences, exchange advice, and have fun.  Since its launch, the website has received over 1.2 million unique visitors, and after the perfume is officially launched, you can bet that number is going to skyrocket!
Once the concept of Womanity had been explained, we got to the part I'd been eagerly anticipating for the past several weeks (ever since I knew I'd be attending this event!): the perfume.  Being a perfume lover (verging on a perfumaholic), my whole body was atwitter at the idea of being in on the launch of a brand new scent from one of the world's most famous fragrance-makers, Thierry Mugler!  Now, given the heavy fig theme in the room, I was fairly certain that fig was going to be a major note in the perfume.  What I wasn't expecting, however, was that there was also a reason that we were served caviar...yes, CAVIAR is also one of the major notes in the perfume.  The third major note is fig tree.  Employing a brand new exclusive distillation method, molecular distillation (patented by the Mane company), the perfume-makers at Thierry Mugler are now able to fully and perfectly reconstruct the "aromatic body" of any given material - so there is no detectable difference between the molecular distillation and the substance from which it was extracted.  Very cutting edge, high-tech stuff!  After this process was explained the molecular distillations of each of the three major ingredients were passed around the room.  The fig, predictably, smelled quite sweet, but with that grounded, figgy complexity that gives figs their interesting scent and flavor.  I had no idea what to expect from the caviar distillation, but was pleasantly surprised.  Slightly savory, but with a warmth and depth and a little hint of sweetness that one might not expect.  The third distillation, the fig tree, nearly blew my socks off. Woody, earthy, spicy and deep, I'd be tempted to wear this one all by itself!  Once all three distillation samples had been passed around, the moment we'd all been waiting for finally came - samples of the perfume itself were passed through the room.  One could hear the collective "ooohs" and "aaahs" as we each inhaled the new fragrance.  Sweet and savory at the same time, with the hint of woody complexity from the fig tree, it was love at first sniff for me.  A bottle of the perfume was placed on each table, and soon the room was a cloud of fragrance, as we all contrived to bathe ourselves in this new, addictive scent!
Before heading out to a few other events last night, I made sure to spritz some of my new perfume...well, later in the evening, I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in quite some time and you know what the first thing he said to me was?  "Wow, you smell amazing!"  Yes,  friends, Womanity is a definite winner!!
