We hope you have all Taken a Trip to Connecticut because Lime Rock Park is Where It's At! All of the cool cruisers are here-Russ Truelove, The Goldenrod, and Many More!

Cruising Peachy Enthusiasts know that Peachy Deegan just LOVES Lime Rock Park and it her FAVORITE race track and she is so glad she made it here today!  We have seen some FABULOUS cars today at the show and we look forward to seeing the food and wine from the Taste of Litchfield Hills, the oldest and most prestigious fine food festival in Connecticut, the best state in the nation.  Diane Chinatti graciously greeted us at the Media Booth and it is a gorgeous day here.  We even feel the spirit of Paul Newman and keep looking for him to zoom by in his Corvette.  So far, the Deegan family has parked a car to show, seen The Goldenrod from 1955, seen Russ Truelove and his awesome car he used to race on the beach in Daytona, and seen a beautiful blue and white entry from Maserati of Beverly Hills (which reminds us of how in love we are with our Dana Davis shoes, also from Beverly Hills.)   If for some reason you have not made it to Lime Rock Park yet today, zoom over here because this is the place to be!  If you are here you will see Peachy Deegan wearing her signature red Tom Ford Lipstick, complimented by La Mer tinted moisturizer, a black dress, her Star Vodka hat, and her FitFlops.  Rick Roso and everyone here is doing an amazing job-this really is the best race track in America.  Lime Rock Park Historic Festival 28 Chairman Murray Smith has confirmed that noted collector Oscar Davis has entered his one-of-a-kind 1937 BMW 328 Mille Miglia Bügelfalte into the Festival’s September 5 “Sunday in the Park” Concours. It’s the first time this car will be seen in the U.S.

For the 1940 Mille Miglia, BMW’s design department, Künstlerische Gestaltung, produced this one-off prototype with a streamlined body. It was driven by Count Giovanni Lurani and Franco Cortese and placed sixth overall. The streamlined roadster was based on chassis 85032, extensively modified to lower the engine and driveline in the chassis.

Aside from its low silhouette and flowing fenders, the prototype roadster’s fenders had a pronounced ridge along their tops. It resembled the crease in a pair of ironed trousers and gave the unique car the name it still carries today, Bügelfalte or “ironing crease.”

Smith said, “This is a real breakthrough in the evolution of Lime Rock’s Sunday in the Park as a major concours d'elegance in the U.S. The most important attributes that a car can bring to a concours are provenance, beauty and rarity; this BMW has all that, in major proportions.”

Smith also revealed the seven cars to be displayed by this year's Honored Collector, Joe Freeman:

1914 Mercer Type J Raceabout
Once owned by the great American motoring artist Peter Helck; only four owners since new
1915 Duesenberg 4 Cylinder Board Track Racer
Second-place at the 1916 Indy 500
1938 Sparks Thorne Engineering Special
Second at Indy in 1939 and third in 1941
1952 Kurtis Kraft 500A Chrysler Indy Car
Eighth at 1954 Indy 500 w/Offy
1958 John Fray Champ Car
As raced at Trenton, Langhorne & Milwaukee
1956 Cooper Norton Mark X1 Formula Three car
Totally original
1960 Joe Hunt Magneto Special Ewing Roadster
As raced at Indy, 1960-64

In addition, Freeman has entered the Ewing Roadster into the Festival and will race it Saturday and Monday.

“That an American oval-only single-seater once defeated the pride of continental sports racers, right here at Lime Rock (the groundbreaking 1959 Formula Libre race), makes for a very appealing connection between Joe’s seven-car collection and all the historic European sports racers that will be here,” Smith says.

The weekend's Honored Guest is John Lamm, the noted automotive photographer and journalist.

Regarding the Historic Festival itself, Smith has crafted a weekend of 31 races (12 on Saturday and 19 on Monday) from 10 very interesting groups. Those race groups can be found by clicking on this Lime Rock Park web page.  We can't wait to see you at Lime Rock Park and you may even see some outstanding automobile entries by our panelists and possibly Peachy herself!

Have a great weekend and consider the countdown to Lime Rock Park in place!
