If Children are on Your Shopping List This Year, Kidlandia is Absolutely What You Must Get Them Declares Peachy Deegan and the Petite Peachy Panel! Kidlandia is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know!!! Attention Santa!!!

The founder of Kidlandia, illustrator and entrepreneur Brian Backus, has been living in a fantasy world of maps and monsters since he was a very little boy.

Kidlandia grew out of Brian’s 2004 concept to create personalized maps of imaginary kingdoms for children’s rooms. He believed that by providing children their own kingdoms, with friendly monsters as companions, kids would gain an increased sense of confidence, control, and self-worth. In addition, by naming the cities, islands, and other features of the kingdoms after family and friends, kids would feel more connected to those who love them. Brian, who produced educational multimedia titles for Disney and Voyager, was also intrigued by the idea that by engaging kids in namesake kingdoms, he could motivate them to understand maps, and accelerate reading skills.

Although the maps cost up to $2,000 and were only sold by word of mouth, Brian could not keep up with demand. He received consistent feedback that the maps were among the favorite gifts of a lifetime. In response to this encouragement, he determined to make the maps more widely available, and at affordable prices. Kidlandia was born.

Today, Kidlandia is comprised of a team of talented engineers, designers, and business professionals. Kidlandian team members share a passion to bring delight and meaning to the lives of children and their families. 2.5% of Kidlandia’s founding stock has been set aside as the basis for a future charitable Foundation benefiting children.  Whom You Know thinks the concept and mission of Kidlandia is absolutely outstanding, so our Petite Peachy Panel created Fine Art Prints.  Panelists rave:

This children’s company Kidlandia is the best kept secret that I must let the entire world know about. I seriously cannot stop talking about the personalized map/land I made for my daughter. Everyone should enjoy not only the quality products they offer but the incredibly creative process and fun to help design them. So they have these different map templates that you personalize as much or as little as you want. Every name, graphic, font, color and placement is up to you if you want it to be. Fill in your child’s name to name the land to get started.  Follow the simple tabs adding in family names to create a different areas and regions on the map. For example Grandmummy Mountains, Uncle Bill Heron flying over Daddybear River cutting through Samantha Ann City. I added things like Samantha’s weekend Castles and the Morrison Family Islands too. Just put in the names and it translates them all over the map. Add any names or activities,  sports or food that your child loves and pop they appear on the map too. The lands national holiday is your child’s birthday. Every detail can be tweaked and you can add as much as you want. Great gift for every child in your family close friends (you have to know family names and so forth). The colors and different templates you can choose from will fit into any child’s bedroom, playroom or elsewhere. When my daughter and I sat down to look at it for the first time, she was amazed as this was her kingdom and everything on the map was about her or her family and friends and things she loved. Her personalized kingdom map arrived two weeks after ordering on heavy card stock in its 11x14” size unframed. I would recommend that they try and offer the map in larger sizes as I would have also enjoyed this even bigger. Go play around and create your child’s own world now as it is a wonderful treasure that they will become a family heirloom. Thank you Kidlandia and please keep adding new products and templates as soon as possible. I don’t ever think I will get enough or run out of people to buy these for!

My son loved his new Kidlandia print.  Having just recently learned to use a map and compass, he raved about having his own personal "kingdom."  Kidlandia personalizes each print to the individual child, and the map of "Calebland" had a short history written in the top corner.  The national holiday is his birthday, and the kingdom is known for chocolate forests...big hit with a 2nd grader!  After entering over 20 names on the website, I was curious to see how they would be used.  I didn't realize until after check-out that those with more technological prowess can actually personalize even further.  But, even without utilizing all of the website's incredible tools, we were presented with a beautiful product.  Caleb studies karate, so the kingdom of "Calebland" features the "Black Belt Mountains" and the "Flying Sidekick River."  Of course, no matter how big he might think he is, I had to include "Mommy Island" and "Daddypillar."  This map print will definitely be a keepsake for years to come.

"Did you say Cement Mixer Island, mom?" my three-year old son asked in amazement.  His eyes only grew wider and wider as I pointed out things in "Charlieland" that had the names of those nearest and dearest to him.  "Backhoe Island?  Handy Manny Mountains?  Island of Elmo??!!"  Suffice it to say, my little boy loves this print from Kidlandia and so do his mom and dad!  We all gasped when I took it out of the package.  The colors are bold, the font is clear and easy to read and the graphics are well, simply adorable.  The process of personalizing this print was easy and fun and the website was very user friendly.  I am so happy with the finished product and can't wait to frame it and hang it on my son's bedroom wall.  This makes a beautiful gift for any child!  I will be visiting the Kidlandia site again soon to check out what other wonderful products are offered and will be sure to spread the word to other parents about this wonderful company!

Our daugher was so excited to open her new Kidlandia print of "Greerland."  With her birthday as the national holiday, her personal kingdom also boasts the "Poppy" mountain range and the "Meme" River.  Of course, one note I would pass on to other moms is how fast little girls' friends change at age 5.  "Claire Island" would have been perfect last month, but now they're in a row.  So, doing the personalization over again, I would stick with family members.  She loves "Mommy Lake" and "Daddyville."  The best part about her new map is that it is supplementing her reading.  Every day she discovers a new family member of friend's name in "Greerland," and she loves sounding out the words to find out who else is hiding inside her magical kingdom.  It's nice to add some personal interests into the website fields, as well.  That way, you're sure to have a "Cheerleader Cove" or "Hannah Montana City" pop up.  We were so pleased with these prints that we ordered several more for family Christmas presents.
