NIGHTLIGHT: Lenox Hill Hospital Autumn Ball It’s a new day Raises Over Three Million Dollars
Whom You Know attended Lenox Hill Hospital's annual Fall Ball at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The event was mainly a celebration of last May's merger of Lenox Hill Hospital into the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. We were pleased to cover this event for the second consecutive year! The black tie crowd looked fabulous! At the cocktail reception, we sipped on wine and champagne while feasting on appetizers which included sushi, dumplings, seafood, crudites and duck rolls. The turnout was impressive as the partygoers filled 3 rooms for cocktails and filled all the tables in the main ballroom for dinner (we did not notice one open seat). The ballroom was festively and seasonally decorated for fall with leaves and foliage offset by bright red hues. We enjoyed meeting many accomplished doctors and medical services providers at the event as well as hospital donors and even some former patients. This event is very worthwhile, funds a deserving non-profit and such a quintessential and prominent hospital in the city. An event not to be missed. Our advice--book your reservations, seats and tables early for the event next year which sells out early. A wonderful job by Webster Light Grant!

On Monday, November 1, 2010, Lenox Hill Hospital (LHH) held its annual Autumn Ball at the Waldorf Astoria. The black tie gala drew a crowd of more than 900 and celebrated its newly formed partnership as the Manhattan flagship hospital for the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. Fall foliage and oversized orchids enhanced the Autumn-inspired space while The Stringers provided music that kept the dance floor crowded all night long.
For over a century, the Autumn Ball has been one of the most glamorous evenings in New York City’s fall social season and is also the largest fundraising event for the hospital. William O. Hiltz, Chairman of the Lenox Hill Hospital Executive Committee, announced, “Tonight, we have raised more than $3,000,000 thanks to your generosity in making this evening a resounding success.” Mr. Hiltz thanked Gladys George, who is retiring after 20 years as President and CEO of LHH, for her passion and dedication to the hospital. The guests gave her an enthusiastic standing ovation.
Richard Goldstein, Chairman of the NS-LIJ Health System Board of Trustees, credited LHH’s 153-year history to its dedicated doctors and caregivers, and its focus on providing high-quality care to the surrounding community.
Michael Dowling, President and CEO of the NS-LIJ Health System, highlighted how the partnership will benefit both the Health System and Lenox Hill Hospital with shared goals of enhancing the quality of care. Mr. Dowling thanked the LHH staff for its support and collaboration before going on to announce that the North Shore-LIJ Health System, in conjunction with Hofstra University, will open the first medical school in New York State in 35 years.
The NS-LIJ Health System, the largest integrated healthcare provider in New York State, was recently recognized with the National Quality Forum's prestigious 2010 Quality Healthcare Award.
Guests included the Event Co-chairs Ellen and Daniel M. Crown, Candice and Richard Goldstein, Judith and William O. Hiltz, Phyllis and William Mack, and Roy J. Zuckerberg.
