READ THIS: New York at Night by Jason Hawkes, Text by Christopher Gray

Usually when we think of Merrell we think of shoes but now we think of publishing too...and originally we automatically thought Lynch as Peachy spent many years on Wall Street.  See how our minds are expanding on Whom You Know!  You all read the Nightlight column on Whom You Know which tells you all about Peachy Deegan's adventures at night in Manhattan including black tie soirees, charity events and hanging out at Swifty's...so if you are not in New York, this is a lovely book to get and to give that gives you a pictorial depiction of the gorgeous views you have in Manhattan at night that are like nowhere else on earth.

Manhattan is really the center of the world as they say in this book, and we think our readership proves it.

From downtown to uptown, it is truly amazing what Jason Hawkes can do with a camera hanging out of a helicopter~! We love the picture on page 12-13 and we think Hudson would like to see this version.  The saddest pictures are of the footprint on page 28-29 which Peachy sadly was there for in person on September 11th but luckily was not walking through it as she was late for work since she voted for Mayor Bloomberg.  On pages 70-71 there is an excellent view of Central Park which is among the very best we've ever seen.  The Skyscrapers and Movement Chapters at the end are the best by far in the entire book.

This is a great gift for the person that has everything because presumably, even if they live in Manhattan they have not had access to this kind of air space and views...and it is a book that you can look at again and again, as you go to different parts of town and want to compare your experience with the aerial version.

Whom You Know Recommends New York at night!  If you can't be here, this is the next best thing.

New York at Night
Jason Hawkes
Text by Christopher Gray
The New York skyline is arguably one of the most distinctive on Earth. At night, however, the city’s numerous landmarks are transformed from the familiar into the new. Following the success of Merrell’s London at Night, award-winning aerial photographer Jason Hawkes offers a dramatic, night-time perspective on one of the world’s most iconic locations. From the vantage point of a helicopter, Hawkes captures the magical, almost abstract quality of such familiar sights as the Statue of Liberty, Times Square and the Empire State Building as seen after dark, as well as revealing some of New York’s less well-known vistas. Featuring an informative introduction and extended captions by the New York Times
journalist Christopher Gray, New York at Night is a unique and often breathtaking record of the city that truly never sleeps

New York’s most famous sights as never seen before, together with less familiar views of the city
Includes more than 130 stunningly detailed photographs
A remarkable portrait of one of the world’s most vibrant and exciting cities
