The Lobster Clambake at The York Grill, a Peachy's Pick, is Simply Fabulous! It's Every Friday and Saturday Until the End of Summer, and not only can you order a Lobster, you can also order The Peachy Deegan cocktail!
You know we have previously picked York Grill:
Located in the far east of Manhattan on York Avenue, York Grill offers fantastic fare in a high class environment, and we were delighted to return to try out their clambake.
Every Friday and Saturday night, York Grill has an all night lobster clambake for $39.95 featuring a one and a quarter pound Maine Lobster, Littleneck Clams, Prince Edward Island Mussels, Gulf Shrimp, Corn on the Cob, and Red Bliss Potatoes steamed in a White Wine Herb Broth Served with Drawn Roasted Garlic Butter. After you've eaten this you will be left wondering why on earth anyone would leave Manhattan on the weekend during the summer....just look at that picture. Both Peachy and her panelist feasted on that and you will want to eat it all at once, just don't eat lunch on the day you visit!!!
Peachy Deegan began with one of the best salads she has had all summer; the avocado was simply tops and the overall variety it offered in conjunction with the ratios of each ingredient to each other won her over. Hydroponic baby arugula and chopped romaine hearts tossed with grape tomatoes, red onion and sundried cherries in a chipotle ranch dressing topped with a queso fresca crumble and sliced avocado is served in a generous portion - and it is packed with flavor and nutrients that are screaming summer!
The lobster itself was a total dream. There are not many foods that Peachy Deegan likes more than lobster, and not only was the lobster outstanding, but also every ingredient that came to the party was delicious.
And we've told you Lance the waiter is among the very best in town. When we keep mentioning something or someone you can be confident that we are going back and there's no better sign than that. We only go back when we love something because there is a waiting list of places to be reviewed...
Our esteemed panelist adds:
Located on York Avenue and 89th Street in Manhattan, York Grill is one of those places that you feel is so good but that only the locals know. In anywhere else in America, people would drive for hours to sit down to a meal in such a wonderful ambience, great staff, fantastic service, and of course breathtakingly delicious food. Tucked away on the Upper East Side, this unpretentious but fabulous place is always busy because it has developed a discerning clientele who keep coming back and telling their friends how wonderful it is.
Opened over 15 years ago, the owners can be very proud of what they have achieved: a thriving business where every costumer leaves happy. This restaurant has become an uptown institution. When you arrive, you can sit at the well-stocked bar, or be led directly to your table. There a choice of seating options: a booth down the back, alongside an authentic brick wall, over by the mural, or by the front with expansive views of York Avenue. We went with the specials menu: for started I ordered the Tiger Shrimp: it was wonderful as you can see above. Marinated in Jalepeno, tequila and lime with fresh cilantro and shaved toasted coconut, the shrimp was exquisitely presented, but in terms of taste, it was the yellow watermelon cubes that set it apart. Next up for main course I had to try the Lobster Clambake: it was a fabulous experience: the Lobster by itself was memorable, but it also came with Littleneck Clams, Prince Edward Island Mussels, Gulf Shrimp, Corn on the Cob and Red Bliss Potatoes, steamed in a white wine herb broth. Together they created a veritable symphony of taste, with intertwining melodies of wonderful sensory moments. While we were enjoying the food, our feeling of triumph was equally matched by sampling the latest rendition of the Peachy Deegan: this delicious drink needs no introduction to regular readers of 'Whom You Know': if you do not know about it, check out the search feature at the top! Suffice to say that like a good musical act, it is in demand around town, and the York Grill is the most recent venue to showcase it as their 'Featured Cocktail'.For desert we shared the Chef's Special, 'Bunuello'. This was an inviting combination of Cheescake and Banana wrapped in a flour tortilla, then fried, served with strawberry ice cream, whipped cream, and topped off with a sprinkling of sugar and cinnamon. All of my friends tell me that I am a nice person, but on occasions like this I do not want to have to share dessert! Well you now know that I am a connoisseur of sweet food, and this offering was tops! We finished a great meal with a nice cup of coffee. You can always tell by people's demeanor when they had a great dining experience: I left with a broad smile on my face and will be back soon. If I had a car I would drive for hours to get there, fortunately I just live across town, but no matter where you live, this place is highly recommended. And best of all, they served The Peachy Deegan cocktail!!!!
