Breaking News from Whom You Know-The 2012 Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show was a marked success in its 107th year, with boat and accessories dealers and manufacturers reporting strong sales from the Show floor. Attendance was on par with past years, space sales were up by 17%, the number of exhibitors was up by 6%, and Show management estimates that there were 20% more boats on the Show floor this year. 
Oooh we just loved it, and if you didn't attend, be sure to put it on your schedule for next year!

The 2012 Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show turned the Javits Convention Center into a nautical paradise January 4-8, showcasing the newest and best in boating, plus an expansive collection of cutting-edge electronics and accessories on the market. Show goers found boats from several thousand to several million dollars, and for those with a penchant for luxury, there is no shortage of fun to be had with model introductions from top yacht dealers and the unique chance to shop and compare boat brands side by side. As shoppers plan their summer purchase, special show pricing saved buyers up to 15% – a discount that can save hundreds of thousands of dollars on high-end offerings and give techies the chance to score super sales as they dive deep into the latest maritime devices.

Premier Boating Workshops: Beginners and experienced boaters alike can take their skills to the next level with a variety of three-hour interactive workshops offered by The Annapolis School of Seamanship Jan. 6-8 from 9am-Noon before the show opens each day. Attendees can learn the basic tricks to maneuver a boat in close quarters, take in a demo to learn how to operate and maintain marine diesel fuel systems, participate in hands-on demonstrations for anchoring and line handling, and get a look at some modern navigational electronics. · Power Boat Docking Challenge: New and experienced boaters will become more confident behind the helm at the Power Boat Docking Challenge. This interactive experience pits show participants against one another as they compete against the clock.
