Chez Peachy: Belleek's Galway Weave line Earns Whom You Know's Highest Recommendation
We already showed you the pottery by Belleek that is Queen Elizabeth's, but we know you all were dying to know the pattern that Peachy Deegan is so terribly into. Introducing the Galway Weave!
As you can see, the Galway Weave is an absolutely beautiful pattern that is adorned with class on this set. It's reminiscent of your favorite Irish sweater.
We took it to the rolling green hills of the Upper East side of Manhattan for its photo shoot, because we are using it on this side of the pond. If you didn't think there were rolling green hills here, surprise! Do you really think Peachy would live anywhere that didn't have a lot of green close by?
Crafted at their historic pottery in Ireland, Belleek's Galway Weave line was first introduced in 2011 and has been widely acclaimed for its functionality, versatility and quality and it is evident why. Galway Weave, which incorporates design elements from Aran knitwear patterns, is comprised of numerous designs that mix and match together allowing consumers to create their own unique look.
This fine porcelain is made by Belleek in its historic pottery on the Erne River in County Fermanagh, Ireland. All pieces are microwave/dishwasher safe and durable for everyday use. Peachy loves them so much she just took them to the park again for another review for something that came home with her from The Fancy Food Show.
Peachy prefer's Barry's Irish Tea which she used to drink in college in Cork! She hasn't drank American tea since.
Consumers can layer the basic weave with Cable, Tree of Life or Scallop Trim accents to create a truly unique tablescape that is timeless, familiar and appealing for any home that values unique, hand-crafted objects.
Belleek is fine, warm ivory porcelain that is microwave/dishwasher safe, durable, light-weight with very crisp design detail under a creamy translucent glaze. It is as appropriate for everyday as it is for Sunday best, and shouldn't you be at your best everyday.
New for 2013 in the Belleek Galway Weave dinnerware is a Tree of Life roasting dish (shown at the top) that comes with classic Irish recipes, as well as a 10" pitcher. T
he pitcher is absolutely gorgeous, and its design is flawless. It tells us it happily holds water or iced tea or even Guinness-whatever makes you happy. The beautiful design of this line is incredibly versatile, enabling it to meet all your needs, and as it is white it will go with everything.
Since it is one of the new items this year, this piece was especially camera-ready.
Department store buyers, this line is calling your name!
Get excited for an interview with Bill Follett, President of Belleek! (...and he is married to an ancient so all Farmington girls stay super-tuned!)
The curve is especially beautiful as you can see expertly from this angle.
Every piece on the bottom is emblazoned:
Belleek products are sold at all Irish/Celtic stores, many fine gift stores, department stores (Von Maur, Boscov’s) and numerous catalog/online retailers, and they also do exclusive products for QVC.
The cable knit might have been our favorite-we are especially partial to cable since Peachy learned to knit. Notice there is no column named Knitting Peachy, and our cables do not look quite this perfect, though we try!
The texture is absolutely phenomenal. It makes everything you put on it look better and therefore, taste better.
From smaller plates to larger dinner plates, every facet of this line is going to suit you summer, fall, winter and spring.
Closeup, you can appreciate the detail even more:
Whom You Know simply would not exist without coffee, and guess who is fueled by it, even late on a Sunday night (because The Fancy Food Show is very, very huge.)
As we type this, we drink coffee out of this mug. It fits more coffee than the average mug, and since when did we write about average. It is also exquisitely patterned and perhaps shows the pattern the best because it's on the side.
This next one is for your John and James: Guess how much Flahavan's Irish Oatmeal could fit in here:
Our plan is to fill the bowl with your next product, and David Sasuga says he will send the shamrocks from Fresh Origins to put on top. There is no such thing as planning too early for St. Patrick's Day! Every day is St. Patrick's Day here.
The Galway Weave by Belleek has earned Whom You Know's Highest Recommendation.
Belleek has been manufacturing fine ivory porcelain at its pottery on the Erne River since 1857. This river flows through a beautiful lake region in County Fermanagh in the northwest, near Donegal. The original 3 story Georgian structure, located on Main Street, remains and serves as the Belleek Visitors Centre, offices, museum and restaurant. More modern facilities were built in the 1990’s to create a more efficient process. That said, the art of making Belleek has remained virtually unchanged for 157 years. Each piece passes through 16 human hands before it leaves the pottery. Many pieces have hand painted decoration or have 24k gold accents added by hand. The finished pieces are immediately recognizable for their delicate translucency, soft ivory color and radiant eggshell glaze. All Belleek carry the famous trademark which include iconic Irish symbols of the harp, the hound and round tower. Belleek is collectible but much of their product line is functional and meant for every day use.
