In America, anyway. We haven't started reviewing in Italy but we just might.
The pizza and bagels are better here because of the phenomenal New York water.
No kidding.
There is a lot of pizza here and there is a large variance between pizza to-die-for and pizza that is just okay. There is absolutely no reason to eat anything that is JUST OKAY here in Manhattan because you have more choices than anywhere else, and you're reading us, silly. We tell you what is the best and what you should eat. The truth is we have eaten more just okay food than we will tell you, but we don't know that until after we eat it. We make a list and we check it more than twice to figure out which food is yucky or nice, and we look far beyond the food itself. We try to make it easy for you, so you can only eat the best food.
When we find something that is not that impressive, we don't write about it. If we find something that is good, we might write on it once. When we find something that's very good, we write on it more than once. The quality of what we ate at our pal Rino's place called Gourmet Brick Oven Pizza 33 is tops! This is its second feature and it should not have taken us a whole year to return, however, Peachy can only eat so much at a time!
It was first featured here:
This trip we tried the "Il Giardino." To us, it looks like the rolling green hills of Ireland because of its pretty color combination of green, white and tan. Anything that looks like Ireland is hugely attractive to us.
The Il Giardino boasts onions, broccoli, artichoke, fresh mozzarella, basil and mushrooms. To tell you the truth, it was so terrific Peachy actually ate half of the pizza when she got it (she usually restrains herself more than that.) This is not a heavy pizza because of all of the nutritious vegetables on it, and we find the combination unique and flavorful. It is not overly creative; the components blend well together and the ingredients are total quality and the crust is baked perfectly.
There is no way you can forget where Rino makes pizza because you just have to remember Joel Quenneville's number when he played: #3. Rino makes his pizza at 33rd Street and 3rd Avenue. Peachy associates every number with its Hartford Whaler player as you might know. And yes, she did eat pizza at the Hartford Civic Center downstairs at Bon Appetite before the game and during the 3rd period at the game.
A green salad is a must at every meal.
Some casual food spots can have very sketchy salads, but not here. The house salad is done simply, and it is done well. We love that they listen and put the dressing on the side.
Everything was cut up properly into bite-sized pieces and it was delicious.
Finally, we tried the meatball sub which was good! The cheesy accent on the top was a nice touch and the grinder roll was fresh.
Gourmet Brick Oven Pizza 33 is Terrific Takeout!
