It's not who you know, it's Whom You Know and we are proud to say we know Paul Nicaj!
He's been featured every season for his achievements at Battery Gardens ever since we met:
Paul is absolutely one of the best restaurateurs in the world. How many restaurants have we featured twice a year for the past two? Not too many!
If you have not been to Battery Gardens, we have one sentence for you: what are you waiting for! As a result of Paul's past success,
Paul's on Times Square has been one of the most highly anticipated openings in Manhattan, and it made its debut November 5, 2014.
Located at 136 West 42nd Street in the Hilton Garden Inn (hit HL in the elevator to go up), Paul's On Times Square will make your dinner as exciting as the ball drop...and it's a lot warmer inside! It's obvious to us that Paul Nicaj is the new Dick Clark, nevermind Ryan Seacrest. And, it's not just for New Year's Eve. This is its inaugural feature on Whom You Know, and as you know the first feature for any restaurant we haven't yet been to is in our takeout column in Manhattan.
For our antipasti course, we opted for the fantastically fresh Carciofini e Arugula.
Divine sauteed hearts of artichoke in lemon olive oil with arugula will invigorate your appetite as you revel in their exquisite freshness to open your meal. The balsamic and parmesan grace the summit of the selection.
Just look at this.
Ask yourself, when is the last time my salad was so beautiful?
The Insalata Mista Organica is composed of assorted organic baby greens with grape tomato, and again that fabulous lemon olive oil joins the party on the plate. If you don't think fresh vegetables are as much fun as we do, reconsider when they are arranged so convincingly! Its aerial view:
Yes, everything in reality was as fresh as it looked and tasted like your own private vegetable garden in the heart of Times Square. Remember, we never edit pictures; it is this gorgeous.
Executive Chef and co-owner Dino Redzic, Paul's nephew (you'll remember him from Uncle Paul's Pizza) insisted we try the Follie Di Melanzane for our pasta course, and it was a great suggestion.
It arrives in style like this, however, you'll note that it doesn't look like a pasta course.
Where is it? Watch!
Listen to Dino:
The rigatoni is perfectly al dente and is accentuated by the flavorful tomato with eggplant and melted fresh mozzarella, sure to be a crowd pleaser. The pasta selection of the menu has quite a bit of depth and the Papardelle con Funghi e Tartufi sounds excellent to us.
We love fresh fish, and the entrees on the menu are full of attractive choices. The one we decided upon was Branzino di Chile Piccata, invitingly arranged complete with microgreens.
Sublime Chilean Sea Bass with white wine capers sauce on a bed of Bok Choy present your plate with an array of complimentary flavors in addition to being nutritious and colorful.
Be sure to save room for dessert...
The Apple Tarte was the perfect ending! We'd order it again in a heartbeat and it was the first item that made a full disappearing act in Peachy's stomach.
Paul's on Times Square is Terrific Takeout!
