Right now is a big time of celebration in New York as NYCFC just won their second game in a row...stay tuned for our commentary on that.   Also, Tommy McNamara earned goal of the week for MLS.  It's the first win Peachy saw in person.  Finally, it is the most wonderful time of the year: The Stanley Cup Playoffs!
Chicago could win the Stanley Cup tonight!
Dessert is a lovely way to celebrate, and if you have a sweet tooth, there's only one place to go in New York.
VENIERO'S!!!
First, before you read any more be sure to watch Robert's video at the top.
Peachy's friend Robert Zerilli is the 4th generation owner of Veniero's!
Robert joined the family business in 1981 and his wife even picked him up here.  It's a family affair still that began in 1894 by Great Uncle Antonio Veniero; Robert has three fantastic sisters Claudia, Linda and Margaret.
You are all lucky that Veniero's is open 362 days a year!
It is not open on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Days.

Veniero's was first featured in 2014:
Everything there is FABULOUS and here is their latest hit parade.
Veniero's is the first venue to earn an encore in Decadent Desserts.
You might have heard Ms. America-Editor-in-Chief mention a time or two that she likes apple pie.  Just as amazing is a pear Francipane!  Just a little bit different because of the change of fruit of course....the Pear Francipane arrives in style in an almond pastry tart.  Delicious: unsurpassed quality.  It also is available in Apricot.  We were absolutely delighted with the layer of raspberry jam on the bottom!
Everyone tells us how fabulous they all are in desserts, but Veniero's is King.
No one does desserts better. (And after this review guess who spent some quality time with the elliptical...)
Though Veniero's is the oldest game in town they are not content to rest on their laurels -similar to our pal Billy Martin down in Washington!- and Robert is constantly reinventing the classics to modernize their menu, which is the most extensive dessert menu you will ever see.  Peachy counts six pages in front of her right now.
Directly above, please meet our newest edible ami, Annatella!
Annatella is composed of nutella with whipped cream and cream cheese, dark chocolate cake with chocolate crunch and Vanilla Bavarian cream mixed with meringue.

It's the epitome of decadence for all chocoholics, and light as a feather.
We love how the desserts are not gigantic, so you can order many of them, and the peppermint candy stripe is just the right touch.

Chocolate covered strawberries and petit fours are a timeless specialty of Veniero's, and prove that a great idea can endure for decades!  People travel for miles to eat them.  Starting at about one-o'clock and going around the plate, shake the hands of: rum truffle, hazelnut truffle, pink heart sponge cake (all hearts are sponge cake we believe), chocolate dipped strawberry, pistachio truffle, raspberry truffle...all excellent.
Peachy loves coffee and totally depends on it.  What is even better than plain coffee or cappuccino is of course IRISH COFFEE.   And in the summer, the best version is the Iced Baileys Cappuccino!!!  It is to die for and tastes like a dessert, and if you want coffee to go with your desserts this is what you want to order (unless you go in the winter and then just don't get it iced, silly.)  Iced cappuccino is enhanced by Bailey's Irish cream and two scoops of gelato.  One of the best drinks we've ever had!  The menu says with alcohol...you know that the Bailey's makes it better.  We wish we had one right now.
Our more nutritionally angelic partner in dessert crime chose mint tea, which was also superlative and just how you would want mint tea to be.
Also on a hot day you would gravitate towards cold: meet the ices!
The classic lemon ice!
Cantaloupe Ice!
Strawberry Ice!
There is not better ice in the city of New York, and the Rangers probably wish they could skate on this and then eat it.  And though those silver dessert dishes look nice, imagine eating this out of the Stanley Cup!
After you enjoy your desserts, walk around and look at the walls and appreciate what a tremendous citizen Veniero's has been for so long.

What are you waiting for!
Visit Robert and celebrate your life.
