The competition among Italian restaurateurs in Manhattan is competitive, and if you've been reading us for the past several years, you know it was never near weak. More Italian places have been featured than any other kind of cuisine, and Fabio Cucina Italiana by our friend Fabio continues to amaze us!
We first met Fabio in 2012 at his prior venue:
Now he is only at this venue, Fabio Cucina Italiana, which we featured in the spring and absolutely adored:
We began with one of our most favorite edibles across cuisines: Burrata!
Of course, this comes from Italy. The imported apuglian cow milk mozzarella teams up with homemade roasted red peppers, ripe tomatoes and aged balsamic vinegar. This creamy sensation triumphs over the vegetables (you know you can't beat fabulous cheese!) and the fresh basil was an amazing accent right down to the scent of it.
The Insalate Cesare is an ultimate classic you cannot argue with! We loved the bite sized pieces of everything right down to the croutons, and it was totally fresh as well. Fabio aims to make everyone happy (note we cannot say that for everyone!) and if you tell him exactly what your little heart desires even if it's not on the menu he will be happy to accommodate your request if possible. We see a lot of happy people here!
Also if you've read us before, you know who does not like salad dressing 95% of the time. It's not personal; she has never liked it. Only the truly phenomenal can get us to eat their salad dressing and in this case, we trusted Fabio to put it on as well. Here, the dressing is an enhancement.
Pasta is one of the magic words of Whom You Know, and we always look forward to this course!
Please meet the Risotto Con Crema di Scampi.
It's absolutely enchanting!!!
If you like shrimp scampi, you will love this. It's even better as it has both shrimp and lobster and this seafood will inspire you to extend your summer as long as possible. The Risotto Con Crema di Scampi has a fantastic consistency and flavor that will wow you and make you look forward to this dish every visit.
Note that Fabio is super into soccer so if you are one of our newer readers from MLS Peachy this year, you'll find him very conversant in the european kind of football! Fabio even plays soccer himself.
We suggest you order the side of Grilled Asparagus Spears, which add a lovely flavor to your dinner, and note that this Italian venue is committed to health. Look at how many vegetables grace the entree:
We opted for the succulent Pollo Primavera: Chicken Breast with broccoli, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, roasted potatoes and roasted red peppers in a TRUFFLE sauce!!! A decadent selection, this dish under secondi is terrifically tender and dressed up beautifully, another reason why we were saving it for fashion week. The truffle sauce makes all of these components so sophisticated and delicious.
Fabio Cucina Italiana is always Terrific Takeout!
We look forward to what they are up to next season.
