#PeachysPicks @ManhattanPeachy #PeachyDeegan #WhomYouKnow A Peachy's Pick Since 2018, Dianne and Elisabeth #DianneandElisabeth Summer 2018 by Charlie Marshall #CharlieMarshall

A strong contender for the vegetable beauty contest:
Smashed Roots!
Jimmy Fallon these are the Roots for you.
 It's not who you know.
It's WHOM YOU KNOW and we of course know Charlie Marshall!
Charlie knows that too because like Peachy, he is English-American and speaks and writes well.
Dianne and Elisabeth is his latest creation, and we featured it earlier this year when it earned a spot in Peachy's Picks:
Charlie, in all his professional endeavors, is uber-committed to sourcing the freshest local ingredients available, and more importantly, he hits the high notes for being unique, excellent and authentic.  There is no great restaurant without a great restaurant owner...how many times has Peachy preached that gospel?  Many times over the past decade almost.  We began with the Marinated Beet, apple and fennel salad.  Not only is it fresh and delicious, but also it is unique and authentic because IT IS FROM ELISABETH HERSELF.  Make sure you get the S right in the spelling.  Elisabeth Marshall created this salad and if you guessed she is Charlie's mom you are quite correct.  We hate when we go to a place called first name, last name or any name and there is not a human behind it living or passed; it is just merely branding and a nasty PR machine that is all talk and no substance.

Traditionally, this is made with blue cheese, caraway, red wine honey vinaigrette and bronze fennel microgreens that team up with the marinated beets, apple and fennel.  The apple varies seasonally and we liked the green apple this time.  In Peachy's, they held the blue cheese as she is distinctly not a blue cheese enthusiast.
We also loaded up on caffeine because all this heat is making someone exhausted.
The coffee is terrific here.
This is a challenge of many venues, and there is nothing worse than a poor cup of coffee.
The Marshal, one L, is one of our favorite spots too and you can get the French Bread there.  French bread is part of a complete meal, says Peachy the carb monster.  Also the whipped butter is fantastic.
We are very big on salads, especially when Peachy needs to fit into a bathing suit!  Besides, it has been way too hot to eat much else here.  Quail egg salad is another one that sets Dianne and Elisabeth apart with quail eggs sunny side up, arugula, pecorino, tomato and warm polenta croutons, which are ridiculously great.  And Peachy normally abhors croutons.  All vegetables here are organic.

We love the Roasted Creamed Kale Dip.
We have aspirations for a GAME FOOD column which is what you would eat when you see Boston College beating Notre Dame, and we'd put this in that.
Curly Green Kale, Cream, Garlic and Parmesan team up for a pool that the Crostini will cannonball into.
This is an entree.  Meet Chicken Paillard.
It is the best one in Manhattan right now although many years ago before they closed, Swifty's had a great one.
Dry marinated, pounded skin-on chicken breast perches upon local baby romaine salad along with fried carrots.  Your tastebuds will cluck with approval, and even the buttermilk chive dressing is awesome.

Are your vegetables this gorgeous?
Probably not.
And probably not this delicious either!  Beets, greek yogurt, dill, carrots, mustard, honey, rutabagas, butter and horseradish brilliantly pipe out into lovely little rosettes!
The grilled asparagus is nicely highlighted by lemon, caramelized.

 Seafood lovers: attention please.
Bay Scallop Pasta is superlative.
Seared Bay Scallops from Cape Cod, saffron, malloreddus pasta, lobster cream sauce which is RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING and of course parmesan make another winner of an entree that continues to earn marks for consistency.
The Steak Bavette is also a succulent majesty in its red wine marinade, compound majoram and lovage butter and buttered popcorn polenta to warm you up on a rainier summer day.
We never ask for dessert, but if it is offered, often we will consider it.  If we don't feature it, that means either it was not offered or we are not a fan.
Charlie definitely makes some of the best desserts and do not miss Berried Treasure, with local strawberries, passion fruit syrup, passion fruit mousse and mini meringue.

Peachy and Charlie!
Dianne and Elisabeth continue to be Highly Recommended.
