To celebrate the 30th anniversary of AIPAD, The AIPAD Photography Show New York will present INNOVATION: An Exhibition Within an Exhibition. From daguerreotype to new media, each gallery is showing a work that reflects an innovation such as a technical or artistic development or a seminal work. In each booth, the work will be identified as an innovation in the history of photography. A complete catalogue of the INNOVATION special exhibition will be available at the Show and at www.aipad.com/photoshow/new-york/.

“Seen together, the work in INNOVATION represents an insider’s look at photography and demonstrates the unique ability of AIPAD dealers to look beyond the obvious to discover important talent that may have been overlooked,” noted Stephen Bulger, President, Association of International Photography Art Dealers, and President, Stephen Bulger Gallery, Toronto.

INNOVATION includes important contemporary work from Carrie Mae Weems, Walter Niedermayr, Andreas Gefeller, Barry Frydlender, and Doug and Mike Starn. The exhibition begins with the early days of photography with a daguerreotype from Pierre Ambrose Richebourg and salt prints from Hill & Adamson and William Henry Fox Talbot. Early Modernism is represented by Edward Steichen and Frank Eugene. Modernism swings into full gear in the 1930s with gelatin-silver prints from Man Ray, BrassaÏŠ, Annemarie Heinrich, and Erwin Blumenfeld. In the 1940s and 50s, highlights include work from Minor White, Stanley Kubrick, Robert Frank, and Weegee. Richard Avedon, Paul Caponigro, Kenneth Josephson, Bill Owens, Jerry Uelsmann, and Joel Meyerowitz provide important work from the 1960s and 70s.

Whom You Know has seen this exhibition and highly recommends all Manhattanites see it as it is an excellent opportunity to view outstanding photography from all over the world!
