New Haven Restaurant Week - April 19-24, 2009 - To celebrate New Haven's wide variety of restaurants, the city is hosting a week-long event dedicated to the burgeoning culinary scene. For great value, sample some of New England's most innovative cuisine serving up mouthwatering prix fixe menus for lunch ($16.38 - the year New Haven was founded) and dinner ($29 - a price based on this year). Living Modern in New Canaan - April 23 - June 19, 2009 - The Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism will feature theLiving Modern in New Canaan exhibit to celebrate and help preserve this world-class collection of the architectural history. Beginning on April 23rd, the Commission's second floor gallery in Hartford will display photos, building materials, architectural models, period magazines, furniture and film clips. In May, the Hartford Preservation Alliance will offer five guided tours of Hartford's Modern architectural landmarks. The gallery hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free. 31st Annual Connecticut Daffodil Show - April 25-26, 2009- Enjoy the onset of spring with more than 600,000 daffodils on display at Hubbard Park in Meriden. The festive, flowery affair also includes a parade,juried craft show, three stages of entertainment, fireworks display, road race, crafts fair, amusement area and food tent. #36 Old Town Showdown

For a getaway with old charm, make a visit to some of Connecticut's most historic sites. Start your visit in Windsor atNorthwest Park, a 473-acre municipal park, where you can learn about the town's tobacco farming heritage. After wandering through tobacco-curing sheds, enjoy 12 miles of hiking trails. Afterwards, get creatively inspired and hunt for antiques at the many shops near Windsor Center. Break for lunch at Bart's Drive-In & Restaurant, a town favorite since the 1950s known for its simple menu of hot dogs, clams and shakes by the Farmington River. Explore the river via a rental canoe or kayak from Long River Adventures. Stay overnight at the historicSilas W. Robbins House, a bed
and breakfast built in 1873 and an iconic example of 17th and 18th century period homes. The next morning, rise early to explore the historic district of Old Wethersfield. Walk along Main Street toward Wethersfield Cove, a picturesque waterside recreational spot before visiting the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum to take a look inside three 18th-century homes. Before embarking back home, end the trip with sampling the mouthwatering menu at J. Michaels Tavern, built by Henry Deming in 1790.
