UPSCALE RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE AND PRESTIGIOUS FASHION BRANDS CREATE A TRUE “FIRST” WITH INGENIOUS POP-UP PARTNERSHIP
515 E 72nd St|Miraval Living Partners with Bottomless Closet, M Missoni, Lancôme and Others Launch NEW Evolution in Pop-Up Shopping with First-Ever “Retail Therapy” Event
New York, NY (March, 2009) – 515 E72nd St|Miraval Living and a selection of established and emerging fashion brands have built a creative alliance, pioneering a one-of-a-kind high-style event that is set to excite and reenergize consumers. By working in tandem with Nancy Berger of Grace Group/Pop-Up Tart Productions and in partnership with the charity Bottomless Closet, Miraval Living has created “Retail Therapy”: a carefully curated limited-edition fashion retail event.
The Miraval Living residential experience was created to help simplify and enrich the lives of its residents, foster a true community environment and nurture a lifestyle that harmonizes spa-like relaxation with the action and excitement of New York City living. Miraval Living provides everything one might ever wish for in a home with unique, resident-only amenities such as a 20,000 sq ft park with garden café and outdoor yoga pavilion, full-service spa, fitness center with squash/half basketball court, competitive-sized saline swimming pool with two jacuzzis, demonstration kitchen, rock-climbing wall, creative arts studio and an array of other fitness, health & wellness classes to cultivate mind-body balance. In keeping with this manifesto of superb quality and ease of living, Miraval Living has extended the concept to the fashion world. Taking place in the building’s lobby and six stunning apartments that make up the designer Model Residence Collection on the 28th floor, Retail Therapy will offer over 8000 sq ft of exclusive high rise shopping.
“515 East 72nd Street|Miraval Living is delighted to be hosting this unique and creative collaboration between the real estate and fashion industries, while giving back to the community through our partnership with Bottomless Closet,” said Elaine Diratz, managing director of Corcoran Sunshine. “The building's exquisite lobby and Model Residence Collection featuring designers Bonetti/Kozerski Studio, Campion Platt and Sue Firestone are the perfect setting for this event -- it's an innovative way to invite new people to Miraval Living and inject a little fun and excitement back into both industries.”
Pop-up shops and events are a thriving trend; they not only excite and engage the consumer with the promise of exclusive access and special deals, but also give brands that don’t have their own stores a public forum. Pop-ups are set to become a permanent fixture on the retail landscape and in fact could be the future of retail as we know it, but never before has it been taken to this level.
“The times are challenging for everyone right now but for real estate and fashion retail especially. Brands need to find innovative channels not only to drive business but to engage spend-shy customers who are constantly looking for a fresh way to access fashion,” said Nancy Berger of Grace Group/Pop-up Tart Productions. “This distinctive marriage between residential real estate and pop-up fashion retail here at 515 E72nd St|Miraval Living is ground-breaking. Not only has it never been done before but it allows a disconnected retail customer to get excited about shopping again and indulge in a little voyeurism by getting a sneak peek into one of the city’s most beautiful residences. This is retail therapy at its best!"
The Model Residence Collection on the 28th floor of Miraval Living – designed by Bonetti/Kozerski Studio, Sue Firestone and Campion Platt – will be transformed into unique boutiques, affording an exclusive “come to our house” vibe to the shopping experience. The event will be open to the public from Friday, April 3rd – Sunday, April 5th, with Thursday, April 2nd to serve as media preview and Friends & Family night. A special broker’s preview will run early Friday afternoon before opening to the public. Entry is gained through a donation to Bottomless Closet of new or gently-worn shoes, handbags, jewelry, scarves or accessories.
At Retail Therapy, guests will enter the lobby of Miraval Living where they will check-in and make their donations to Bottomless Closet. All guests are eligible to enter a daily raffle to win a trip for two to Miraval Resort & Spa in Tucson, AZ. Positioned on the upper level of the bi-level lobby will be the Nespresso Pop-up Café where guests can grab a cappuccino before heading up to the shopping floor. Once on the 28th floor guests are invited to shop designer “boutiques” such as M Missoni, JBM Vintage, Haute Hippie and Lancôme, who will be offering complimentary consultations and make-overs to guests. Positioned at either end of the floor, two of the larger model units will feature a multi-brand concept with designers such as Phillip Bloch for Emma & Posh, Emma & Posh Collection, AKA New York, Alex Elliot, Be & D, Brette Sandler, DANNIJO, flutter by Jill Golden, Hooch Bags, Jamin Puech, Leslie Greene, Monalda4, nathan & moe, and ViX. The event is fully catered with signature “100 calorie cocktails” by TYKU Liqueur, non-alcoholic lo-cal refreshments by Hint Water and tasty passed hors d’ouvres by Corner Café.
