NIGHTLIGHT: TANA JEWELRY DEBUTS DOWNTOWN

Former Korean tv show host and style icon Tana Chung debuted TANA JEWELRY at the fashion forward King of Greene Street Emporium that is all the rage these days, showcasing leading international designers as Viktor+Rolfe as well as new, edgy designers from all over the world. Hosts Annie Churchill, Erin Fetherston and Susan Shin modeled stunning pieces from the collection as they greeted fashion insiders and others such as Hedi Ferjani, Alexis Bryan, Lauren Ezersky, Melissa Foss, Miguelina Gambaccini, Cena Jackson, Victoria Kirby, Anisha Lakhani, Kristian Laliberte, Tamsin Lonsdale, Aslaug Magnusdottir, Lara Meiland, Alex Mimran, Alex McCord, Maggie Rizer, Nick Raynes, Emma Snowden-Jones, Carolina Zapf and more. Guests savored haute hors d’oeuvres from Numero 55’s (formerly Merkato 55) star chef, Philip Guardione, while they sipped SEI water and champagne, with DJ Gabriel Levy spinning to create a festive, downtown-vibe ambiance that kept everyone going well past closing.

Admiring the jewelry exhibition consisting of brilliant gemstones set in unusual compositions within intricately wrought settings, favorite model Maggie Rizer snagged a multi strand, multi-colored and multi-stone necklace that nestled just right into the plunging neckline of her sleek halter dress – and the shorter version was worn by host Susan Shin. Not to be outdone, Miss Korea Jisun Lee, carried the multiple theme further, adorned with tasseled gemstone earrings and matching collier. The jewelry designer herself sported her trademark mother of pearl orchid earrings with dangling rose quartz tassels which complemented her ethereal white organza Erin Fetherston dress with ruffled shoulder – the dress, which was both soft and feminine but structural and edgy reflected the core design tenet of TANA JEWELRY. Not surprising, given designer Erin Fetherston’s refined but edgy aesthetic, further revealed in the softly draped lilac dress she wore of her own design and in her sophisticated cream and rose wrap dress worn by a very chic Annie Churchill.

Meanwhile, Emma Snowden-Jones in counterpoint, wore a CHOCHENG black satin and beaded jacket dress cinched at the waist, reminiscent of a modernized 1950’s glamour and wasn’t alone in that regard as the timelessly elegant Carolina Zapf breezed by, a whisper of European charm in a room full of international and cutural voyagers.

ABOUT TANA CHUNG AND TANA JEWELRY

Launched in Fall of 2004 in Seoul, South Korea, TANA JEWELRY made its debut in New York City at the King of Greene St. The bespoke jewelry line takes its name from its founder and designer, Tana Chung, whose intricate and unusual compositions coupled with exceptional artisanal craftsmanship, quickly have established her as a jewelry designer to watch. “TANA” means “beauty in difference” in Korean characters and is an apt description of this unique collection. Espousing a culture combination of Asian creativity and long history with American ingenuity and energy, as well as European refinement and quality, Tana Jewelry is hand-crafted with only natural gems and stones from many parts of the world. Tana’s extensive travel experiences and exposure to many cultures fueled her passion for exotic stones and artful compositions, resulting in the intriguing colors and shapes that define TANA JEWELRY. This marriage of custom elements and superb workmanship creates an effortless style that has become the trademark of TANA JEWELRY.

Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Tana graduated summa cum laude from the acclaimed Ewha University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Fashion and Product Design. Tana first started her career as a television show host and reporter but true to her passion for design and fashion, Tana would often style her own TV shoots, creating signature looks that defined her as a style setter and authority throughout Korea. Tana even began designing her own jewelry because she could not find what she wanted in the market and it wasn’t long before fans asked her to design custom jewelry for them too. Thus, TANA JEWELRY was born and Tana established herself as one of Korea’s most promising design prodigies by the young age of 24. TANA JEWELRY has seen significant growth and recognition since its launch in South Korea and continues to develop in innovative and exciting ways. TANA JEWELRY will debut in New York at King of Greene St. in SOHO, NYC and will be available exclusively at specialty retailers. Tana currently resides in New York City with her husband, Ethan, and their 3 puppies -- Vabean, Euno and Sasha. See www.tanachung.com.
