TOP TEETH: Dr. Garo Nazarian and Peachy Deegan educate you on Bonded Fillings
What are Bonded Fillings?
Bonding is used as an option for teeth that are worn, chipped, or cracked. A tooth colored dental composite material is applied to the tooth, shaped, hardened and finally polished. Patients have the option and are often encouraged to replace their old “amalgam” or silver fillings to the bonded composite fillings, allowing near invisible restoration of their tooth. Composites are blends of ceramics and acrylics that produce an wonderful filling material that is used to repair teeth with cavities or to replace worn out or leaky fillings. (Composites are also used to provide strong light frames for high performance aircraft like the stealth aircraft.) Due to the large selection of shades available, the appropriate color shade can be blended right into your natural tooth color. Performed properly, composite or bonded fillings create the effect that the tooth does not even have a filling.
Remember to keep your smile sparking! It will be the best part of your whole outfit.
