NIGHTLIGHT: MUSIC UNITES KICKS OFF INAUGRAL LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCE SERIES

MUSIC UNITES KICKS OFF INAUGRAL LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCE SERIES

MUSIC UNITES PRESENTS…AN EVENING WITH TAMARAMA AND BLUE OCTOBER

Series Kicks Off April 30th at Norwood - Attended by Peachy Deegan!

Music Unites (MU), an organization dedicated to nourishing the next generations of performers and audiences, hosts the first in its series of music showcases in an effort to break down barriers between music genres and introduce new audiences to unfamiliar artists. In keeping with the Music Unites mission of reintroducing serendipity into the musical lives of our cities, by sponsoring spontaneous acts of music in unconventional public spaces, MU plays host to platinum recording artists Blue October and breakout sensation Tamarama for a private showcase on April 30th at the arts and cultural club, Norwood. They had a great acoustic sound!

“Music Unites is proud to be in a position to present two great bands as the commencement to our live music series. As a thriving non-profit organization, both Blue October and Tamarama embody the mission of Music Unites to make music the forefront of artistic culture to a diverse audience,” said Michelle Edgar, Founder and Executive Director of Music Unites.

Providing a rich soundtrack to those who embrace different forms of live music, MU brings together Blue October and Tamarama for a night to remember. Blue October released their new studio album Approaching Normal, on March 24th as the follow-up to the band’s 2006 platinum plus -certified Foiled. Already a hit on radio the band’s e first single of the album, “Dirt Room”, continues to build on the powerful melodic and lyrical strengths heard in the band’s albums and modern rock hits, “Hate Me” and “Into the Ocean”. Check out the band at www.myspace.com/blueoctober.

Hailing from their native Sydney, Australia to the hard streets of New York City, Tamarama are making a major multi-media entry into American consciousness as one of early 2009’s unmistakable breakout discoveries. The release of the first Tamarama EP, Wonderland City, in January 2009, comes as the duo (Jay Lyon, Nicolas “Pottsy” Potts) play prominent recurring roles as themselves in the new MTV series THE CITY. Tamarama’s warm vocal blend and spare but gorgeous acoustic arrangements instantly establish the band’s sonic signature, a relaxed and enveloping mix fusing American west coast folk-rock; the transatlantic singer-songwriter tradition that includes Paul Simon and Donovan; the softer side of Bob Marley; and the new acoustic style of Jack Johnson.
