Last week, they even rang the closing bell on NASDAQ.
Last night Peachy Deegan along with her English theatre companion had the fabulous opportunity to see the show and were impressed with the passion of the actors, the endurance they displayed throughout the show and the interesting storyline. Whom You Know recommends seeing Rooms: A Rock Romance! Starring Leslie Kritzer (Monica) and Doug Kreeger (Ian), Rooms is the story that anyone with a dream can relate to, and it is a story of confronting life's challenges (who can't relate to THAT in THIS economy?!).
Above all, Peachy Deegan loved it because it is a modern interpretation, rock-style, of the American dream.
The lighting (loved the blue bricks!) and acoustics added to the atmosphere of the show and made the audience feel like a participant in the journey of Monica P. Miller, the Scottish answer to Barbra Streisand, and Ian Wallace, the more reclusive one of the couple. With big dreams initially, as the band is in its inaugural stages Monica declares that when they finally arrive, not even the queen will be able to make their schedule for tea, but as the story transpires, the audience will see the satisfying growth and maturity that both Monica and Ian evolve through.
The accents were well done by these actors, whom we believe are not of Scottish descent, and Whom You Know is qualified for such an opinion as both Peachy (lived there) and her theatre companion (native English, even better) are experienced in this area. Getting the accents right is key to a convincing character.
While Doug Kreeger had an impeccable performance as Ian, we were most impressed by the pure pursuit of excellence by Leslie Kritzer in execution of her character. When she had dreams we hoped for her; when she cried we cried with her. Her passion captivated us. Kritzer's strong voice hit notes perfectly and her fabulous vocal performance alone makes the show worth seeing.
Peachy particularly liked the "Diabolicals"- a performance within a performance...but before she gives too much away, Whom You Know will stop here.
At the New World Stages, Rooms: A Rock Romance is a show that has wide appeal and the uplifting tale will brighten your day. Go see it Whom You Know readers!
