Eat, Drink and Be Healthy: Summer Fruits and Vegetables

What summer fruits are the best for you and why?

Summer fruits are full of antioxidants and all have a variety of benefits. It is important to eat fruit in-season locally to get the most out of them. Based on pesticide use, the fruits most important to eat organic are peaches, apples, nectarines, strawberries, cherries and grapes.

What summer vegetables are the best for you and why?

The same rule of thumb applies to vegetables. Eat in-season local varieties to get the most nutrients. The following are most important to eat organic - sweet bell peppers, celery, lettuce, spinach and potatoes.
