NIGHTLIGHT: Shigoto Fashion

The mood was set as media representatives, models, fashion experts, designers, and ninjas, yes ninjas, came together on Wednesday, June 10 to celebrate the launch of Shigoto Men’s and Women’s clothing line. As guests arrived at Ninja New York, they were ushered into an elevator that took them to the underground Japanese restaurant, complete with 22 rooms, a bar area and a main dining area. Guests mixed and mingled prior to the fashion show, where they admired the models as they walked to Japanese-inspired runway music and sported the Japanese-hipster hair styles and makeup applications done by Michele Bell and her stylists.

Shigoto Fashion was founded in Tokyo in April 2008 by Jasper Momma, former General Manager of Heineken Japan and Mibu Manami, a renowned radio personality. The dynamic duo was inspired by the ancient Japanese samurai warriors and always kept Japan’s past and future in mind while designing the 2009 Shigoto clothing line. The men and women’s lines include Tobi pants, t-shirts, Tabi boots, and teko wristbands.

After the show guests were invited to visit each room around the restaurant and admire the Tobi pants, and Tabi boots that were set out in the rooms with the models giving guests the opportunity to touch the hand woven fabrics. The fashion show was both unique and exciting as it successfully demonstrated the creativity behind Momma’s and Manami’s vision called Shigoto.
