NIGHTLIGHT: Molyvos Hosts MEDITERRANEAN HOT AND SPICY Book Signing

Last night Molyvos hosted a booksigning which Peachy Deegan was happy to attend. Molyvos prepared Greek dishes from this book that were a delight to all guests. This is all about the book:

“I hope my recipes will inspire you to use the abundance of seasonal produce available in your area to prepare dishes with clear, vivid, and invigorating flavors.” – Agalia Kremezi

International expert on Greek Cuisine and renowned chef Aglaia Kremezi has always loved food with flavor as bright, intense, and exciting as the Mediterranean Coast that she calls home. Her first collection of recipes, The Foods of Greece, earned her the Julia Child Award for the best first cookbook from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Now, in her latest cookbook, MEDITERRANEAN HOT AND SPICY (Broadway Books; On-Sale May 12, 2009; $19.95), Aglaia brings her signature style of cooking and passion for fresh dishes that are packed with color, aroma, and flavor to the American kitchen with a collection of recipes from her travels in and around the Mediterranean Sea. These authentic, easy to prepare dishes are enjoyed throughout the region – in Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, France, and Lebanon. With each, Aglaia incorporates the local spices and peppers that give each dish an appealing dose of eat. But these aren’t the same heavy spices or five-alarm peppers that we’re used to from the cuisines of Mexico, India and China. Instead, they pack a punch that is both pleasingly hot, and completely comfortable for the average epicurean.

Dive into the Mediterranean with appetizers like homemade Hummus and Spicy Garlic Chickpeas, or Fried Mussels in Ouzo Butter. There are salads, spreads and marinades, alongside such delicious main courses as Slow Baked Lamb with Wheat Berries, Spicy, Light Moussaka, Lamb Tagine with Dried Figs and Sesame Seeds, and Skillet Pork from Kea.

And the flavor doesn’t end with dinner: desserts like Sweet Couscous with Orange Preserves, Sultanas, and Pistachios, and Fig and Yogurt Semifreddo, add a tangy finish to any meal. Featuring gorgeous full-color photographs throughout, plus a variety of helpful hints from Aglaia, MEDITERRANEAN HOT AND SPICY is the perfect book for anyone who appreciates great flavor, fresh ingredients, and a little bit of spice in the kitchen!
