Champagne Wishes: Orange V

Orange V is an American Crafted Vodka distilled in Idaho at the Silver Creek Distillery. Silver Creek Distillery is a small distillery that has been a distiller of spirit grade alcohol for about the last twenty years. Bill Scott is the master distiller, and has been at Silver Creek almost from the beginning. All vodka made at Silver Creek is made in small batches and is a completely hands on process led by Bill and his team. Quality, not volume is their priority and Whom You Know loves that.

Orange V is made from a blend of premium grain, Rocky Mountain Water (the water flows from the mountains in nearby Wyoming and through the Snake River into the aquifer by the distillery). The grain and water are distilled through a four column process and filtered through a state of the art reverse osmosis filtration system. They then add the flavor of fresh Florida oranges. The flavoring comes from the oils and extracts of their proprietary blend of Florida oranges. The primary oranges are Mandarin, Valenci, and Tangerine.

Orange V was created and is owned by Dynamic Beverages, LLC., a small start-up beverage company based in CT. Vodka is distilled in Idaho and the Oranges are from Florida.

Sweetness
Orange V is has the sweetness of a natural orange. All the sugar is natural. Because of its flavor and sweetness, it reminds some people of a cordial (Cointreau); it about halfway between a “traditional” flavored vodka and a cordial-better than both.

Sweetness however is a matter of taste. Some consumers who taste Orange V straight find it too sweet for their taste. They may enjoy on the rocks, slightly diluted or with plain soda water. Both of these ways bring out the flavor of Orange V and diminish the sweetness. Interestingly, many consumers who love the taste and comment that Orange V is not sweet like some of the other flavored vodkas. Why is that? Other vodkas are flavored with cheap chemical flavoring, and cheap corn syrup, leaving a bad saccharine-like sweetness flavor. Even though these might be less sweet, Orange V does not seem as sweet, because it is natural and tastes like what they expect an orange to taste like.
