READ THIS: At Home With Kate by Eileen Considine-Meara
Whom You Know really likes Katharine Hepburn-what could be better than a girl from Hartford coming to Manhattan and making it big-and we are so delighted that a fabulous new book has come out about her. Not only is it well-written and entertainingly anecdotal, it is also written by someone who was close to her and personally knew her, which makes worthwhile reading.
Whom You Know really endorses these kinds of ideas of writing about whom you know (!) and Eileen Considine-Meara grew up with her mother, Norah, working for Katharine for over thirty years. Eileen enchantingly recounts story after story that she experienced with Kate and her mother from the age of 9 forward including trips to Fenwick, how Kate cared about her smile, Kate's visit to Aunt Jenny in Ireland (one of our more favorite tales in the book), and Spencer's Irish Mafia in New York.
Also there are lovely recipes punctuating chapters! They sound excellent-we would try some of them if we weren't so busy reading and posting.
Additionally, several photos and some cartoons illustrate the story and they are priceless as well.
Whom You Know strongly recommends At Home With Kate by Eileen Considine-Meara. It is going to sit on Peachy Deegan's coffee table for quite awhile! We are sure her guests will enjoy looking at it too, but we were not able to put it down.
