Upcoming London based jewellery designers and brands Macha Jewelry, Akiko Furuta, Yamada Yumeko, Coco Kato and Takafumi Inuzuka present their Fashion Jewellery colections for SS 2010 at Hayato NY nextto somerset House for London Fashion Week. Peachy Deegan wishes she could be in two places at once but this time she is in Manhattan for Fashion Week. Also, we are looking forward to hearing more about Mover and Shaker Andrea Tese's London adventures.
Showcasing five of the fashion industry's most creative upcoming jewellery designers and brands, exclusivesalon Hayato on Drury Lane will be transformed into a jewellery showroom and Pop-Up Shop 19th-21st September during London Fashion Week. And invites trade buyers and the public alike to share the experience. Five diverse jewellery designers will show their latest collections at this special event, as well as inviting clients to book a personal consultation to discuss bespoke commissions in time for Christmas. The raw and beautiful store Hayato nutures talented artists, exhibiting new work every month in a demure environment.
Hayato NY will be offering discounted rates in honour of the occasion.
TAKAFUMI INUZUKA started working as a free-lance jeweller after graduation at Central Saint Martins College in 2007. Since then, he has worked for Hussein Chalayan and Vivienne Westwood, and currently works at Designer of the Year, Shaun Leane’s studio.
He was selected as a design innovation award winner at emerging designers recently, as well as finalist of ITS#7 Accessory. He is creating jewellery as tiny amusement.
Designer IKUKO KATO was named ‘Designer of the Year’ by the prestigious Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, her highly refined taste and sensitivity to the subtleties of her craft was nurtured by her career at Tokyo’s renowned Issey Miyake fashion house. Ikuko is the creator of avant-garde brand Coco Kato, Ikuko loves to unite materials in unusual ways. her fascination with the elegant natural strength of silk combines with her pieces in an original surprising way.
Created and owned by ex fashion designer Bernice Kelly, MACHA JEWELRY is subtly influenced by the vintage clothing researched in her career for various renowned brands. Adored by fashion designers, pieces often reference draping cloth and deconstruction in architecture influenced by her travel experiences as adesigner. The brand now produces mens as well as womens collections and is expanding its fine jewellery line.
YUMEKO YAMADA graduated from Central Saint Martin’s in 2008 and has had her jewellery exhibitedin Europe in the last year. This Wings of Desire collection represents our freedom and human desire to touch the sky through flight to fairy tale. Yumeko has transformed these concepts to sophisticated forms fo sharpening the lines and making asymmetrical shapes to create modern elegance, sensitivity and visual
beauty.
AKIKO FURATA graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2008 with a first class honors degree in Jewellery Design. Akiko's jewellery is better described as sculpture work, it typically develops from a close observation of the detail of ordinary objects that surround her. For her, those simple ordinary objects hide truly unique and original qualities.
The Dark Fate collection represents dark, or even sinister, beauty of femme fatales. Every piece has its own uniquely distinct feature.
