Making Books Sing September 22

WHO?
Making Books Sing’s Junior Committee and Host Committee hosts the 3rd Annual Back to School Ball with a volunteering roster of celebrity, globe-trotting DJs performing a DJ-A-Thon as an the entertainment for the Benefit. The performing DJs include: Emskee, EQUE (wife of hip hop star, Talib Kweli,) Erika Hamilton, G. Brown, Hard Hittin’ Harry, Kiss and M.O.S. (hottest DJ couple,) Peter Paul, Qool Marv (fresh from the Emmy’s,) Reborn, Remarkable, and shErock. The Junior Committee members include: Alton S. Murray, Nelson Berroa, Katherine Chaffee, Jennifer Houseal, Robyn Marks, Nadine Michel, Havelock Nelson, Javier Sanchez and Osmond Wilson. The Host Committee is a comprised of nightlife and lifestyle/marketing executives: Anita Bryant (A-Marketing,) Big Cedric, Byron Lindell Edwards, Kimberly Knox (Ubiquita Worldwide,) Michael "Mancini" McConnell (Team Mancini/Sophist,) Johnny Nunez (celebrity photographer,) and Aden Seraile.


WHAT?
Making Books Sing and Time Out New York presents 3rd Annual Back to School Ball. The annual Benefit, hosted by the Junior Committee, is putting a “spin” on the Junior Benefit scene by charging only $5.00 for admission that equals a FREE raffle ticket to each attenddee. The after-work/cocktail benefit encourages attendees to eat, drink and be merry! In addition to cocktails, appetizers and live DJ-A-Thon will be a live raffle drawing. A handsome portion will be donated from CITRINE (with a menu by Markt) sales during the Benefit to Making Books Sing. Generous donations have been made by: Time Out New York (2009-10 media partner for Making Books Sing,) The Hartman Group PR, HHC Marketing, Dance Theater Workshop, City Parks Foundation, and more great companies and organizations.

WHY?
The Back to School Ball is the Junior Committee’s annual, highest fundraiser to support MBS’s education programs serving students (K-8 grade,) families and shelters across the four boroughs with hands-on, intensive literacy, theater, and visual arts programs. Making Books Sing is a non profit organization at the forefront of uniting professional theatre, children’s theatre and theatre arts education (including musical theatre and visual arts.)
