NIGHTLIGHT: Alexander & Brenda von Schweickhardt celebrated the launch of Oceana New York


Alexander & Brenda von Schweickhardt celebrated the launch of Oceana New York, the nonprofit international advocacy organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the world’s oceans. Guests and supporters such as Jeff Goldblum, Sam Waterston, Tommy & Dee Hilfiger, Ally Hilfiger, Joyce & John Varvatos, and Sue Cohn Rockefeller enjoyed gourmet hors d’oeuvres, sipped cocktails specially concocted for the event, and were greeted by a pair of dazzling mermaids who were perched above the crowd.


 October 20, 2009: At the launch of Oceana New York, a nonprofit international advocacy organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the world’s oceans, Gina Gershon, Law & Order’s Sam Waterson, fashion designer John Varvatos with wife, Joyce, Tommy Hilfiger with his wife Dee and daughter Ally, legendary music producer Nile Rodgers, New York Jets tackle and fabulous Boston College graduate, Damien Woody,  joined hosts Alexander and Brenda Von Schweickhardt for the exclusive launch at their residence.  Actor Jeff Goldblum also stopped by to show his support to the organization in between shoots. The event fully embraced the organization’s message as a duo of mesmerizing mermaids greeted guests who all gathered to protect and conserve the world’s oceans.

Oceana is a nonprofit international advocacy organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the world’s oceans. Since its founding in 2001, the organization has achieved several major victories including protecting more than 640 million acres of ocean habitat. Oceana’s teams of marine scientists, economists, lawyers and advocates win specific and concrete policy changes to reduce pollution and to prevent the irreversible collapse of fish populations, marine mammals and other sea life. Global in scope and dedicated to conservation, Oceana has campaigners based in North America, Europe and South and Central America. The Oceana New York Launch, sponsored by Tiffany & Co., featured an inspiring introduction by Oceana Board Chairman Keith Addis, Oceana Executive Vice President Jim Simon, Sam Waterston and Sue Cohn Rockefeller, as well as the evening’s hosts Alexander and Brenda von Schweickhardt, about the work of the nonprofit organization, and announced the launching of the New York office. Beverages were donated by Zaya.
