BONHAMS ANNOUNCE APPOINTMENT OFJONATHAN HORWICH AS GLOBAL DIRECTOR OF PICTURE SALES

Bonhams announced today that its picture expertise is being enhanced by the appointment of Jonathan Horwich as the leading British auction house’s Global Director of Picture Sales.

Jonathan Horwich will join Bonhams on 1st December where his global brief will see him directing picture teams in Europe, the USA, the Middle and Far East.

Jonathan brings with him over 30 years experience in the auction world. His main focus will be on increasing worldwide picture sales across the Bonhams Group.

Before leaving Christie's during the summer Jonathan was their Director of  International British and Irish Art. Until 2007 he was also International Director of their 19th Century European paintings departments. He is now bringing this wealth of experience and market knowledge to his new role at Bonhams.

Jonathan commented: “I am very excited to be joining the Bonhams team and I already feel among friends. There is huge potential for us all to succeed in this endeavour and I am fully committed to increasing the world-wide totals for Bonhams picture sales across all disciplines, throughout the group".
 
He will be based at Bonhams’ head office in London’s New Bond Street where he will work closely with Caroline Oliphant, Head of Pictures in the UK and Europe.
