READ THIS: NEW YORK: THE BIG CITY AND ITS LITTLE NEIGHBORHOODS Naomi Fertitta with photographs by Paul Aresu In association with NYC & Company. Another Hit By Rizzoli!

[T]ake a journey off the beaten path of obvious destinations… find places to eat, shop, and visit, but perhaps as you explore and wander these streets, you’ll turn a corner and discover, on your own, something unique and different.” – Naomi Fertitta from the Introduction

Here is a book that can be viewed as a supplement to Whom You Know, although it covers all 5 boroughs, and we only cover MANHATTAN. Another hit by Rizzoli, New York: The Big City and Its Little Neighborhoods, has wonderful pictures, great ideas, and insight you might not get anywhere else. Most importantly, it is current, so picking up a copy soon is a must! It also makes a lovely gift for the upcoming holiday season, especially if you have guests coming to visit you, perhaps send it to them in advance of their visit to encourage upcoming exciting New York adventures?

In the Bronx, we are familiar with Woodlawn and do enjoy a good hurling match at Gaelic Park! Check this out starting on page 56. In fact, we are not only looking at the photo of Barry's Tea in the book but we are also drinking it. (Peachy got hers from County Wicklow from the lovely McGettigan's-they have a store in Wicklowtown.)

Manhattan begins on page 62, and of course Whom You Know is most qualified to comment on this section! Greenwich Village's "Little Britain" is a favorite of ours and we can never resist a swing by there after a shopping excursion at Loehmann's. Reading about downtown's Little Italy makes us want to fast forward to lunch...the maps in each section are helpful as well. This book will open your mind to areas you may not know yet and is a good read. Whom You Know recommends NEW YORK: THE BIG CITY AND ITS LITTLE NEIGHBORHOODS.
