GET IN SHAPE FOR 2010— CELEBRITY TRAINER, THELONIOUS ‘T.J.’ JOHNSON SHOWS YOU HOW

We have featured T.J. as a Mover and Shaker; here are some of his workout ideas for 2010!

It’s that time of year again: New Year’s resolutions are set to slim down, tone up and get in shape! However, a new year means new stresses, coupled with the hectic schedules of our day-to-day routines, reaching that goal often seems impossible— until now. Thelonious Johnson, better known as T.J., a sought-after fitness expert, boasting an elite clientele of which one of the most well-known is CNN’s Anderson Cooper, has supplied easy-to-do tips that promise to get you fit without getting you stressed…

BUILD UP A SWEAT BEFORE BEDTIME
Whether you are supplementing your workout routine or need to jumpstart a new one, adding twenty minutes to the end of your day will help you to burn the day’s calories, clear your mind, relieve stress and stay away from dessert. Jog around your neighborhood, take on spinning at the gym or even jump rope at home.

DRINK MORE
No matter where or when – in the morning before your daily cup of coffee, by the cooler at the office, or at dinner instead of wine – make a conscious effort to drink more water. As dehydration will often lead you to mistake your body’s thirst for hunger, the added H2O will keep you hydrated, ensuring and those hunger pangs are only present when your body really needs nourishment and preventing over-eating. Bonus: your skin will glow!

WRITE IT DOWN
Sit down and establish a few realistic fitness goals for yourself – lose 15 pounds by summer; strengthen upper body, tone abdomen; improve your running time; etc. – next, write them down on a piece of paper and carry them with you. This friendly reminder will help you stay on track and keep you from reaching for that midnight snack.

GRAB A FRIEND
Need motivation to make it to the gym? A workout buddy will encourage you to maintain your workouts, even if you’re not in the mood. Providing support, enthusiasm and accountability, a friend will remind you of the importance of your fitness goals while pushing you to reach them. If your schedule doesn’t match up with your friends’, work with a personal trainer a few days a week instead. A trainer will work with you according to your timetable and design fitness plans that match your goals.

SWITCH IT UP
After some time, a workout routine may need a makeover. As you notice that your workout become easier, your body may not need to work as hard to complete the session. Keep your body guessing, while revving up your metabolism, by changing your workout routine every week.
