Living in the Now: How Instant and Live is Changing Your World – Real Estate Connect NYC 2010

The best and brightest minds in real estate attended Real Estate Connect, the preeminent real estate technology conference, in New York City, January 13-15, 2010 at the New York Marriott Marquis. A record number of attendees – more than 1,500 real estate leaders worldwide attended.
For over 13 years, Inman News publisher Brad Inman has brought the most innovative minds together for three awe-inspiring days of learning and collaboration. Conference attendees experienced three jam-packed days of networking with the industry's sharpest minds and being exposed to the very best business intelligence that helped rethink, reframe and recharge their business.

In his opening message, Brad Inman said, "One of the biggest shifts we are seeing is the increase in real time data." Tools like mobile applications, Twitter and Facebook, are impacting how quickly information is distributed. Inman predicts that one of the big trends in 2010 will be mobile apps that are able to filter and organize this data. Real time search, real time location, real time agent feedback, and real time real estate listing information will be major trends we will see in 2010.

"Those agents that adopt technology will close more transactions because they will be more efficient," said Inman.

Topics covered at Real Estate Connect included:
  • Building Brand and Influence Through Social Media
  • Capturing the Mobile, Local, Social Phenomenon
  • Views, clicks, leads or social engagement? What matters and who in online real estate can actually deliver value?
  • Market Gut-Check: Are we on the road to recovery, or just kidding ourselves?
  • Technology, Media and Tech Trends You Need to Understand in 2010
Featured keynote speakers included Dennis Crowley (Co-Founder, Foursquare), Jason Fried (President, 37 Signals), Sam Grobart (Assistant Technology Editor, The New York Times), and Max Ventilla (Zoo Director, Aardvark)

A highlight of the conference included "Start-Up Alley," where brand-new companies were invited to share their new product or service. Many of these companies had just launched or were launching at the conference. There was also a competition for the top start-up company. The winner, via audience vote, NabeWise.com received $25,000 in Inman News advertising.
The next Real Estate Connect is planned for July 13-15, 2010 in San Francisco at the Hilton Union Square.
