Master Drawings New York January 22-February 20, 2010

For the fifth year running Crispian Riley-Smith will be exhibiting at Shepherd-Derom galleries with Margot Gordon. 

Crispian Riley-Smith will be exhibiting a special exhibition on Dutch and Flemish drawings and watercolours from the 16th to 19th centuries. There will be recent acquisitions from private collections which are fresh to the market. A selection of the highlights are a spectacular watercolour by Johannes Huibert Prins of 'A Capriccio of a Dutch Town', 'A View of Delft', a rare topographical drawing by Joannis Jacobus Bijlaert, a charming animal study of 'Studies of a seated and sleeping Spaniel' by Tethart Haag, 'A Ram' by Pieter Holsteijn II, three genre drawings by Jan van Ravenswaay, 'Woodcutters in a Landscape' by the rare Vincent van der Vinne, 'A view of Heiligeweg, Amsterdam' by Hermanus Schouten, 'A Wooded Landscape' by Daniel Kerkhoff, and seven ornithological watercolours by Aert Schouman.

There are also a number of fresh works to the market from the Italian Schools, including a new addition to the work of Guido Reni, 'Head of Saint Jerome' for the painting in the Hermitage, from a distinguished British collections.
In addition, from the French Schools, there is a stunning pastel by Jean-Baptiste Pillement of 'A Mill Beside a River'.
