Agata and the Storm A film by Silvio Soldini Recommended by Whom You Know

If you are constantly going to the regular box office to see movies, you are missing out.  There are many interesting films that are not advertised in the mainstream media, both American and international, that are worth seeing and Agata and the Storm is one of them.

They may not have the wardrobe stylists that we are used to (a good stylist should not be noticed; it is more evident when one is not at the top of his/her game!) and may not drive the cars or live the glamorous life you would expect characters in movies may have, but if you can personally get beyond that you will open your film world into a greater realm and you may even enjoy it!

Agata and the Storm is from Italy and was filmed in 2005.  A Romantic Comedy, it is Italian with English subtitles which if you do not speak Italian you will be thankful for for the entire 118 minute duration of the film.  A swirl of pop-art color, madcap magic, and the bittersweet call of life and love suddenly take the mature, ravishing, self-reliant Agata by storm. When Agata, the popular bookshop proprietor and dispenser of sunny wisdom in the form of books, is suddenly wooed by a man almost half her age, her electricity hits high-voltage. It even sends light bulbs bursting in her wake. Yet it is Agata’s joy and explosive magnetism in the face of life in all its irony that eventually offers the eye of the cyclone. There, all is supremely quiet and still, as Agata creates a haven of love and freedom to quell the storms of life’s unfulfilled desires.  Whom You Know recommends Agata and the Storm.  It will delight you!
