February 13, 2010 Lacoste Presents Its Fall 2010 Collection in Bryant Park: Whom You Know Says it is Classic Prep Kicked Up with Color and Deserves A Place in Your Closet. It is Modern Prep Defined Says Peachy Deegan!

Whom You Know paid homage to the crocodile today as Peachy Deegan got dressed up in her classic Lacoste look and headed for the tents.  Of course she was wearing her fabulous Cinderella sneakers by Lacoste (thank you Mary) and the show was a hit!  Creative Director Christophe Lemaire tantalized the crowd with his flair for clean lines and color with impact.

If you have been reading Whom You Know for ages you know that Peachy has worn Lacoste her whole life.  Her family dressed her in it before she was making her own fashion choices; see Grammy to the right, she was one to endorse this look.  If you go back to Peachy's first school picture in Kindergarten she is wearing a purple crewneck Lacoste sweater with a white Lacoste turtleneck under it.  She was probably told to wear it but we see now why.  The show today was reminiscent of prep school in New England, if you did that, but with a modern twist.   Actually the hair on some of the female models was very single-sex boarding school.  This means underdone with the end result of looking like more.  We can envision Miss Porter's girls wearing these outfits on a fall saturday afternoon at a football game at Avon Old Farms...and the 10am time slot on a Saturday did make us feel like we were attending Saturday classes. (Peachy never had these but they are quite common in prep school.)

Beginning with some nice neutral cremes known as the Elegant Club line, Lacoste quickly kicked it up with Peachy Deegan's most favorite color: Kelly Green, and paired this with hot pink and black...which does sound like Peachy's closet.  We liked the hats the models sported quite a lot and of course collars were up everywhere.  For all of you that are saying prep is back what we have to say is that it never left!!!!  Lacoste Studio captures fifteen looks that we understand will be available at the flagship boutiques.  You will love it.

Needless to say, this is a classic iconic brand that we are pleased as punch to see in the tents this season.  This is a brand that deserves a spot EVERY SEASON.  If more people wore Lacoste the world would be a neater looking and better place!   Also we must say in attending fashion shows, you always are checking out the crowd.  This may have been the best dressed crowd we have seen at a fashion show, but maybe we think that because many looked a lot like us.  In fact in looking over the entire week's lineup in the tents we think this could be the oldest brand.  You know we are into tradition and history....So many times we have sat through shows thinking: this is so strange we would not be caught dead in this and whoever designed this clearly never had to move in it, etc. and I am too short to look good in this...we had none of these thoughts today: our only thought was we will take it all in a size 4~!!!  We hope to see many more consecutive Lacoste shows!  We love love love love love love love love Lacoste.  Previously we have featured it (other than the Cinderella sneakers):

and they of course were a stop on Fashion's Night Out
