It's the 3rd annual Italian wine tasting extravaganza showcased by noted wine expert, Luca Maroni, and held at the majestic and breath-taking Cipriani 42nd Street on February 4. This event featured more than 100 wines from over 40 top Italian wine producers. It's a must-attend event for any and all wine aficionados and connoisseurs out there, or even if you're new to the world of wine, this would be THE event to get yourself started and well-acquainted with some of the best Italian wines out there.
The format is such that as you enter the venue, you grab a glass and walk around to the various stations set up by each winery, ask for a pour and then sip and sample to your heart's content. Being that over 100 wines are featured, it's quite the undertaking to taste each and every wine out there but it sure is fun to try! This is also where Luca Maroni's widely-renowned wine tasting method could be put to the best use too, as Mr. Maroni pioneered this method as a tool to measure and evaluate wine's pleasantness. It's definitely something to look further into!
To complement the plentiful wines, the chapel portion of the venue was set up to serve some distinctive Cipriani-catered Italian dishes as well as fine cheeses and charcuterie, while the adjoining terrace provided seating for event attendees. The Cipriani 42nd Street, with its Italian Renaissance-inspired architecture featuring towering marble columns, soaring ceilings and elegant chandeliers provided the perfect showcase for this magnificent event. A lovely evening was had by all. We at Whom You Know can't wait for next year's SensofWine!
