ECCENTRIC CHARISMA: JULIANNE MOORE INTERPRETS THE SPIRIT AND VALUES OF BVLGARI
We see this ad campaign everywhere in Manhattan. It is beautifully done and an example of excellence in advertising. It does not surprise us one bit that it is advertising BVLGARI as that is one of our favorites. Actress Julianne Moore appears in BVLGARI’s Spring/Summer 2010 jewelry and watch advertising campaign. The campaign, debuted in February 2010, marks a new artistic direction for BVLGARI: rather than focusing on individual product categories, the ads will depict a lifestyle that they are calling Eccentric Charisma. Each image features items from several of BVLGARI’s jewelry, watches and accessories collections.
Julianne Moore, an actress with 48 films and 4 Oscar nominations to her credit, was chosen because she represents the style and personality of the BVLGARI woman. She exudes a timeless charisma and inescapable magnetism; her extraordinary combination of extraordinary beauty, sharp intelligence and confidence are ideal for BVLGARI’s campaign.
Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot photographed the campaign at Tony Duquette’s magnificent DAWNRIDGE house in Beverly Hills. Moore is shown lounging about in an exotic and opulent salon decorated in rich brocades, sumptuous jewel tone satins and plush peacock feathers. Julia von Boehm styled Moore to appear mysterious, luminous and sophisticated. She wears 115 carat Colombian teardrop emerald earrings and Serpenti snake bracelets coiled around her wrists. She clutches BVLGARI’s new Chandra (Sanskrit for “moon”) bag in chestnut and Prussian blue leather.

Pendent earrings worn by Julianne Moore in BVLGARI’s SS 2010 advertising campaign, with detachable Colombian pear-shaped emeralds, weighing 52.86 and 62.32 carats respectively. The emeralds are exceptional for their size, uniform color and perfect match. They were included in BVLGARI’s first retrospective exhibition at Il Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome from May through September, 2009.
