Partners from FXFOWLE Architects, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, Polshek Partnership Architects, Richard Meier & Partners and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill commune on panel to discuss the future of architecture.
NEW YORK - MARCH 24, 2010 - IDNY, Designer Pages’ common interest group and social network, is proud to announce #Futurtecture, a panel discussion addressing the challenges, opportunities, trends and technologies that face the architectural practice, today and tomorrow. The American Institute of Architects’ New York chapter (AIANY) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) join the panel as industry association partners and Oculus, a publication of the AIA New York Chapter, will serve as the event’s media sponsor. #Futurtecture will take place at 6:30pm on April 8th at The Mohawk Group showroom in Manhattan.
James S. Russell, FAIA, Bloomberg's U.S. architecture critic, will act as moderator to the #Futurtecture discussion and will be accompanied by the following panelists: Dan Kaplan, AIA, Senior Partner at FXFOWLE Architects; Jill Lerner, FAIA, Principal at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates; Todd Schliemann, FAIA, Design Partner at Polshek Partnership Architects; Scott Johnson, AIA, Associate Partner and COO at Richard Meier & Partners and Mustafa K. Abadan, FAIA, Design Partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
"The field of architecture has changed enormously since I began practicing in 1979, says Todd Schliemann, Design Partner at Polshek Partnership Architects. “I applaud Designer Pages for providing a substantive forum in which we can explore the challenges facing architects today.”
Designer Pages will be soliciting questions from the design community online via social channels like Facebook and Twitter. Mr. Russell will then vet and organize these questions to help moderate the evening’s discussion.
"The subject of this panel is particularly exciting for Designer Pages since we see our website as a forward-thinking tool to help design professionals work together more efficiently in the future," says Jacob Slevin, Co-Founder and CEO of Designer Pages. "Additionally, these panelists are all graduates of the school of architecture at Cornell University and as a fellow Cornellian, I am deeply honored to host such illustrious members of the Cornell family."
The design community can submit questions by emailing futurtecture@designerpages.com and can RSVP for the event at http://meetup.designerpages. com/.

About Designer Pages
Designer Pages is a manufacturer–generated search platform to help designers search, save, and share product information. Manufacturers of all sorts can publish and update product listings freely. Qualified buyers can instantly connect to these manufacturers to request additional information — or save products to begin building a materials library that will never become outdated. But most important, Designer Pages is all about sharing product information through collaborative ‘workspaces’ that help designers jump–start projects with tools to improve communication and efficiency. The result is a web–based, self–maintained, and comprehensive software solution for specifying products in architecture and design.
