READ THIS: The 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live By Robert Tuchman

We love sports at Whom You Know.  The lack of postings in Sporty Peachy is not a reflection of our love for sports, it is a reflection of our lack of commentary on it in Manhattan so far.  (Henrik Lundqvist if you are reading please email peachydeegan@gmail.com we want to hear from you!)  To this end, we were pleased to pick up this lovely compilation of the sporting events we all must see live and it was role reversal for Peachy Deegan to listen to what she should go to!  We are so pleased Tuchman mentions the Beanpot.  We love love love The Beanpot and are pleased to brag a bit that the best team on Commonwealth Avenue won this year (to see what that team is, look at the colors of this website.)

For a sports fan, nothing is better than a live sporting event. No one knows this better than Robert Tuchman—founder of the global leader in sports event travel—TSE Sports & Entertainment. Tuchman has put together The 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live (BenBella Books; April 2009; $17.95; 9781933771458), a list of 100 events every sports fanatic should see in-person at least once in their lifetime. Each event creates a unique atmosphere and an exclusive sports experience and has earned its place on this list.

We love how he mentions the New York Rangers 1994 Stanley Cup victory and how a fan held a sign saying something along the lines of how they could now die in peace...although Peachy did not live in Manhattan at the time she did make the pilgrimage here for that victory parade and has the pictures to prove it.

The 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live also provides interesting background information about each event and suggests where to stay in the event’s host city, where to grab a great meal and where to have a good time and celebrate after the game. The list-based format makes the book easy to navigate, which makes planning a pilgrimage a less daunting and more exciting task. Tuchman’s collection of useful details is perfect for any fan who wants to delve further into the world of sports and all that it has to offer.    We suggest you don't read this cover to cover, but rather read it in terms of actually doing it with your travel schedule.    This is well-organized and complete and contains a wealth of information on each event and its logistics.  It makes a great gift as well!

Tuchman states:
"For a brief moment in time, boundaries that separate members of society disappear.  Cultural differences become meaningless.  There are no differences in ethnicity, income level, or age.   We are united in cheering, jeering, and just enjoying the sporting event.  This is the greatest gift of sports, its ability to bring people together."
