I can't believe how quickly time has flown since the Beijing Games! Can you believe the Winter Olympics are over already!?!? The London summer games are right around the corner and we begin Olympic qualification in just over a year!
I'm working hard with my big goal to win the first gold in US men's Olympic history motivating me each day at training. As always, I appreciate your support! -Tim

THE ROAD TO THE 2010 PARIS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!
We just hit the midway point of our season with the conclusion of a world cup in North Africa in Tunis. I finished 20th out of 120 competitors individually and our team had its best result of the season finishing 5th, losing by 1 point to the World Champion Romanians 45-44 in the match to advance to the semi-finals. We had strong victories over Ukraine, the Olympic Champions France and Spain. We've really struggle this year in the team event so it's good that we showed strong signs of life at this competition.
I continue to hold the #1 ranking in the USA, my individual world ranking is 16th (Goal is top-8 this season) and our team ranking is 6th (Goal is 5th this season). We won't compete again until early May so now is the time to reflect on progress and start to make adjustments to training and strategy.
MY MIDTERM REPORT CARD: I would give myself a C+ for my individual results so far this season. I'm doing slightly better than last year's pace, but my results have not been where I'd hoped them to be. I'm looking very strong to qualify for the world championship team which is important and being #1 in USA is nice, but my focus now is solely on world ranking and becoming a top top international fencer. On the team event side of things, I'd give myself a D+/C-. Up until this last competition I have not fenced up to my standards. As the most veteran member of the team it's especially important for me to fence well to give our younger guys confidence and for the most part I haven't done that...yet. I'm working hard to improve and will get this done.
So what needs to change? The next level for me as a fencer is in #1 USING DATA MORE EFFECTIVELY #2 MORE CONSISTENT TRAINING STRUCTURE INFORMED FROM THAT DATA. We have a big gap in analyzing our own game and that of our competitors using video analysis and data tracking. It's boring and not very exciting, but is essential to reach top level results. I'm going to spending a lot of April watching video and tracking data on my own fencing and those of my competitors.
I want to thank you all for your support over this first half of the season. Your emails and messages definitely keep me going through many long days on the road! Special thanks to the team that helps me train every day as I drive towards London. My coach Yury Gelman, my crew at Bodhizone: Scott Weiss, Renee, Eileen, Millie, Mark and everyone over there who helps me stay in great shape! THANKS GUYS!
