Whom You Know Recommends the Little Green Book of Blarney by the Peter Pauper Press! Get Yours In Time For St. Patrick's Day!
We firmly believe at Whom You Know that there are 2 kinds of people: those who are Irish, and those that wish they were. Some 40 million Americans claim Irish ancestry, and many more than that line the streets each March in leprechaun hats, green beer in hand, declaring "Kiss me, I'm Irish!"
But what, exactly, does it mean to be Irish?
Consider The Little Green Book of Blarney your very own pot of gold, a treasure trove of facts and wisdom about the Emerald Isle, its people, and our collective Irish past. You'll explore Irish history, culture, and literature, as well as folklore and fun. And that's no blarney! A great gift book for St. Patrick's Day!
144 pages. Spot illustrations throughout. 4-1/4" wide x 5-3/4" high. Elastic band place holder. Concealed wire-o binding lies flat for ease of use.
The very Irish Whom You Know panel read this, and here is what they thought:
The pocket-sized Little Green Book of Blarney offers a wealth of knowledge about Irish history, culture and traditions. It really is a celebration of everything Irish. For such a tiny book, it packs a lot of punch, and is filled with all kinds of interesting information. I mean, I’m of Irish descent, and I can throw down Guinness with the best of ‘em, but Irish history is something of a mystery to me, and even the fact that present-day Ireland is considered the “‘Silicon Valley’ of Europe” was news to me. Truth is, the more I read in this little book, the more I felt like a fake. Having read it, though, I feel much more informed and I’m looking forward to sharing my new found knowledge with family and friends. I’m even buying a few copies for some family members. Don’t get me wrong, however – The Little Green Book of Blarney is no history book. It’s got all sorts of information in it – even some Irish jokes I’ve never heard mixed in with some of my old favorites. I think I’ll appreciate St. Patrick’s Day a little more this year.
The Little Green Book of Blarney is a fun book that gives you a lot of insight into the Irish culture. It's a cute green book that provides a wonderful quick "How To" on the Irish culture. This book gives you the background on history, culture, poems, even recipes! I love all of the stories of how Ireland came to be and I feel that the book teaches you all the important parts of the Irish culture and of Ireland! The pictures really bring the books written words to life! It truly is a wonderful guide book that gives you a quick crash corse on who and what the Irish culture is about. I also find this to be a great book to read prior to taking a trip to Ireland, it really helps you embrace everything about this country!
St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and you’re wondering what to get your Irish friends? The Little Green Book of Blarney makes for a neat little present for anyone with some Irish in them! It’s compact size, so you can carry it everywhere with you. It’s filled with fun facts and words of wisdom about the Irish culture. Even if you’re not of the Irish descent, this book will teach you everything you need to know about what it means to be Irish. There are many facts about the history, culture, and even gives you examples of limericks! So make sure you have it handy on St. Patrick’s Day, for someone might just ask you a question about the Irish and you can show off your Irish side!

When first glancing at this book, it has a very charming look. Upon opening, there were many treasures to be found. I enjoyed the ease of the layout. I very much enjoyed learning more about Ireland and their traditions. For the cook of the family, there are two recipies in this book, which I was very pleased to find. "The Gift of Gab" section was very uniquely written. It gives the reader a brief history of the fairy tales, folklore and other written word that Ireland is known for with several examples.
