Chicago's Hedge Fund Industry will Unite for 8th Annual Hedge Funds Care Midwest Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit
Grantmaking Charity Focused on Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse Plans Chicago Gala Featuring Tastings from Celebrity Chefs on May 20, 2010 at The Ivy Room
CHICAGO, April 22, 2010 - Hedge Funds Care, a global non-profit organization which raises funds and awareness within the hedge fund industry for programs that work to prevent and treat child abuse, announced today that it will hold its 8th Annual Midwest Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit on Thursday, May 20th, 2010 at The Ivy Room (12 East Ohio Street, Chicago, IL). This year's gala features a sumptuous cocktail reception along with tastings from celebrity chefs including Bill Kim of Urban Belly Restaurant, Chris Pandel of Bristol Restaurant, Ryan Poli of Perennial Restaurant, and Giuseppi Tantori of Boka Restaurant. Additionally, The Kelly Lively Memorial Award, given in recognition of outstanding commitment to Hedge Funds Care and the prevention of child abuse and neglect, will be presented to Grosvenor Capital Management. The Co-chairs for the event are Ron Suber, Senior Partner of Merlin Securities and Jeremie Bacon, CEO of Backstop Solutions. Tom Ricketts, Chairman of the Chicago Cubs, will also be in attendance as a special guest. Attendees will include hedge fund investors, service providers and senior professionals, including some of the most recognized and respected investment managers in the industry.
Since the first benefit in 1998, Hedge Funds Care has awarded over 600 grants totaling $21 million in the United States and abroad. Since its inaugural grant-making cycle in 2003, the Midwest Chapter has made 104 grants totaling $3,719,000. The 2009-2010 Grants Selection Committee was co-chaired by Nancy Snyder, Principal, Bonne Brise Design, and Erica Nelson, Partner, Deloitte, LLP. Through the ongoing commitment of hedge fund industry professionals and investors, Hedge Funds Care looks forward to continuing to support existing grantees while also expanding support to new programs.
