THE LITTLE BLACK JOURNAL OF WINE RECOMMENDED BY THE CHAMPAGNE WISHES PANEL OF WHOM YOU KNOW

If only this book was around when I first learned about wine, had my first sip and took my various tasting trips to the wine country and wineries! Not having the inclination to take a class nor having the attention span to read any long, esoteric guides that take a lot to digest, this would’ve been the perfect initiation into the world of wines. Peter Pauper Press’ The Little Black Book of Wine keeps it simple and to the point with overviews on the different types of wines and grapes, their corresponding characteristics, all the wine terms you need to know, how to taste and experience a wine, deciphering wine labels, and the major wine producing regions of the world. If you’ve always been ever the slightest bit intimidated or just felt alien to the culture of wine, this book is sure to get you up to speed and comfortable in no time. Growing up in the states, unlike in the other parts of the world where wine plays a big part in everyday life, we have a ways to go in catching up, but this book will narrow the gap.  The length of the book and the size of the mini-format encourages you to pocket it along for a quick brush-up before a tasting, or to take it out any time you need a refresher on wine terms. It’s a book I know I’ll use often and will definitely keep by my side with each new wine experience I have.

The Little Black Book of Wine is such a great book to have in your home and is a wonderful little thing to keep on you when you're out! The book is also great to give as a gift to all those wine loving friends. I use mine all the time! The size is convenient enough to keep on you when you go out. It's a great little book to keep track of a wine that you like and one that you even hate! It's a cute little cheat sheet if you're not sure what to pick and choose from. Or even if you want to try a new wine and aren't sure what to try. There are simple descriptions, trivia and helpful suggestions. Generally when I go out I rely on others to pick out the wines. Now things have changed! I truly love this book because it has given me the knowledge and the power to be able to do the wine picking! Thanks to this book I am now the wine guru!

Peter Pauper Press has so many helpful pocket books but this is one of my favorite.  Although I really enjoy wine, I do not remember every single component of the field and this quick reference guide is not only informative, it is also entertaining.  From basic terminology to the wine regions to the varietals, The Little Black Journal of Wine brings you from zero to sixty in less than 5 seconds if you are looking to brush up before a soiree, a wine tasting, or just for your own enjoyment.  Peter Pauper consistently impresses us and the quality and breath of their selection is among the very best.
