New Pizza Night Game For families looking for more than just pizza and a movie Recommended By Whom You Know
Pizza night is almost a national pastime for American families. Occurring two to three times a month, families love to enjoy their favorite pizza at home. That’s where FamilyTimeFun’s new Pizza Night Game comes in. With this new game, families play while eating their favorite pizza, adding a fun new element to pizza night. Peachy Deegan was especially excited about this game as she thinks pizza is one of the four food groups, and she can be seen eating pizza in Serafina or Mimi's.
FamilyTimeFun’s new Pizza Night Family Dinner Game launched February 2010 at the International Toy Fair in New York. This is how we found out about it. The game is designed especially for families with young kids ages 5 and up to play while eating take out, delivery or home made pizza.
Packaged in a bright red pizza box, with spill-proof pizza slice game cards, the game gives an authentic pizza feel. It offers a total of 150 different pizza time activities. Simple to play, you just role the multi colored die and whatever color it lands on is the color card you play. There are six card decks, each a different color and they sit in a pizza pie shaped tray. Also, each color is a different game category – Family Style, Get Creative, Brainy, Talk Time, Fun Time and Action Packed.
The game encourages families to interact, have fun and enjoy their pizza. Family pizza night is often equated with pizza and a movie or pizza and TV. But, John Pandiscio, founder and President of FamilyTimeFun, learned through research that families also like to play games while eating pizza. So he created the Pizza Night Game for those evenings where a family wants to add a fun new interactive element to pizza night. A few of the games include: “Pizz-arrrgh Matey” where you pretend to be a pirate as you eat your pizza. Or “Nick-Name” where you give everyone a pizza-related nick name, i.e. Papa Pepperoni or Mushroom Mama. “Cold Pizza” asks you to put your heels together and waddle around the table like a penguin, then sip your cold drink when you return. All the games are quick, taking just a few seconds to a few minutes to play.
John Pandiscio started the company 5 years ago when he was inspired by an idea of playing simple dinner games at-home with his wife and young kids. Says Pandiscio, “All of our at home dinner games have done extremely well. Now we’re excited to add a fun new element to pizza nights.”
With a suggested retail price of $19.95, FamilyTimeFun’s Pizza Night Game will be sold through specialty toy and gift shops, bookstores, specialty catalogs and online. FamilyTimeFun’s four award-winning Dinner Games include Beginner Dinner Games, The Original Dinner Games, Gather ‘Round Dinner Game and Gather ‘Round Restaurant Game.
The Petite Peachy Panel put this to the test, and they said:
What a wonderful idea to turn pizza night into game night! I remember helping out when my family would do pizza night and have very fond memories. This game takes it up a notch with all the activities designed to go along with making and eating pizza. In a time where most families don't have time for game nights or dinners together, this helps bring all that back! The different categories make it fun so you never know what could come up when you roll the dice. I love that there are 150 different activities. It encourages families to talk more. I like the "be creative" cards the best because I've seen many children lacking in an imagination, usually due to the amount of video games they play. This would make the perfect game for families with young children. The be creative cards would be right up their alley! I could see the talk time cards being used a lot more with families who have older children. Having family time where you can communicate with one another and have fun is so important. I am glad there is a game like Pizza Night! Family Dinner Game to help bring families closer together. I highly recommend this game to anyone wanting to bring more fun to family dinner nights! It would also make a perfect gift too.
Pep Up Pizza Night for the whole family. At first when I received the Pizza Night Family Dinner Game, the thought of playing rather than just devouring hot slices of pizza made me a little skeptical. But that is the point, not to just devour pizza but to have even more fun as a family around the dining room table. Of course, it is mostly around the coffee table in our house. So we gave it a try. Cool packaging to look like a pizza. Sauce and cheese proof cards. And a die to take you to your many categories of activities. The games ask you to get creative with a mostly pizza theme. The best part is each game allows you to eat and play. They can last from seconds to a minute or so and you can make them into what you wish. Some include just you or you can invite others to participate as well. This great pizza eating accessory will change family pizza night in a great way! So order up a large cheese pizza with all the toppings. Make sure you spice up your pizza and night with a side of the Pizza Family Dinner Game to pep (peroni) up the fun.
Finally a game that can be played at the dinner table that breaks up the same ol’ routine. We are a family of 5 with three children ranging in age from 5-11, kindergarten through 6th grade. We have 2 boys and a girl. We like to eat as a family as much as possible, but with 3 kids all doing different activities it’s already become difficult for us to make time for family dinners. And when we do (at least 3 times a week), our conversation generally consists of questions from me and my wife, “I dunno’s” from each of the kids, and, of course, the constant bickering. We have always shared the highs & lows of the day/week, but after that our conversation goes down hill. With the help of the Pizza Night Family Dinner game, dinner time in our house is finally looking up. The game gives us an easy way to keep the conversation and action light and lively and it keeps our kids interested in our time together. The key is that the questions, challenges, and suggested conversation topics are engaging, and the fact that they come from a “game” and not mom & dad somehow makes things more interesting for the kids. And the games are fast moving so it doesn’t get boring. We always get in at least two games, even on our craziest, busiest nights. I have recommended this game to my family and friends, and all of them have thanked me. Across the board, I’m hearing that dinner time has never been more enjoyable.
When this game arrived both my children practically attacked the box packaged in a bright red pizza box!! As they are very curious ... I had to put away my homemade soup for dinner and order pizza immediately! Because pizza is a national pasttime for Americans and an economical meal ... It's no doubt this game is a major success in the toy industry.
While most families sit and eat pizza in front of a tv, this pizza game encourages families to interact with each other in a creative, brainy talkative fun action-packed educational way.
We played the original pizza party game for ages 6-12. It comes with the pizza box game and 150 slice cards and 6 game categories! Pizza will never be the same! The fun begins when you open your box, gather with your family. Not only is it a fun game, my kids asked to play every week! This game also promotes family communication and literacy while having pizza.
There are fun games with categories like " nick name" or "cold pizza" all these games are fun, some improv and they take a few seconds to play! The price should be priceless because of the special family interaction, but is under $20 dollars. A perfect board game for your vacation home, apartment, or a gift for other families and for children of many ages.
I just ordered 6 for my sons friends who came over to play while having a dinner playdate.
I love this pizza party game creation. Brilliant and fun for everyone. Even adults could use a stress reliever by playing! Get your fun now!!!
